I think it was Phil Savage that explained it that way after the game. He is pretty close to the program isn't he ?

He's no Paul Finebaum.

We should be much better on offense. Our receiving corps will be exponentially better and all of our running backs will have had a year of growth. As long as Brandon Allen is at least serviceable, we probably won't be a pushover.

agreed, that's why i'm saying an auburn win by 7 to 10... that is probably closer than most think.

Arkansas's offense will be better.... Allen will be healthy, talented RBs, very good OL, good TE... it's not the kind of offense that's going to throw a ton of points on the board, but it will be good enough to win you games. The defensive back seven is the concern... and Auburn's speed to the edges and talent at WR should exploit that.

I actually think playing auburn first isn't a good thing for Arkansas...no time to gel with a new DC.

Back 7 is definitely the biggest concern. We just hope that the TCU guy can work some Gary Patterson magic with the DBs. A guy on a pay board talked to one of our CB's moms and she said that all the CBs were ecstatic to see Taver Johnson gone because they never felt he prepared them well.

There's no doubt that on paper y'all should win and win big. But the 2014 Arkansas team will not be the same team they were last year.

getting rid of johnson and ash should pay dividends in 2014... i just don't know if Game One that will be the case... may take a little time.

by Oct/Nov, Arkansas could be very dangerous.... schedule is brutal though

The biggest thing for Arkansas is does Allen improve enough to make defenses respect the passing game. If he does then I think Arkansas is going to surprise a lot of people. If not then it will be hard for them to win more games as teams will just stack the box. They have a very talented DL that can hide issues in the secondary so to me it really comes down to QB play

I laughed too. Blowing an 18 point lead to JW. I hate FSU, so that made it a lot harder to take gracefully.

But I should have known, Winston takes what he fricking wants.

Bama blew the AU game, so not a lot of room to talk.

Maybe, but probably not. They could be as good as last year and drop 6 games. depends on how the breaks go.

FSU had to have everything go right to win that game.

You had 2 drives that started around Florida State's 25 yard line, and you built an 18 point lead. Those facts refute your claim that FSU had to have everything go right to win that game. Everything didn't go right, and they found a way to win regardless. Give props to FSU and stop making excuses.

we're not going to know squat about Auburn until they play Kansas State

Arky first game of the season against Auburn, that's a rough draw with the repair job you will have

Kansas State is a scary team b/c they've got an outstanding WR (lockett) and it's on the road. Our secondary could get abused by Waters and Lockett.

Offensively, we should be able to do whatever we want... KSU isn't a bad defense, but teams with speed killed them last year -- OU and Baylor did whatever they wanted.

Arkansas may actually be a tougher matchup for us, just b/c of their running game that can eat up clock... they also have a better DL than K State.

that's crazy hyperbole but there is a four game stretch where it's SCar, @Ole Miss, aTm, @Georgia

that's your season right there and if you get bit by SCar on the front end of that it could get bad

I think you get Arky at the perfect time to throttle the crap out of them - it's still a work in progress and the last type of team you want to face right out of the gate in that situation is a gus bus

no doubt i'd rather play Ark early rather than late... if they don't get their confidence smashed in by the end of Sept/ early Oct, they could be a dangerous team come November.

No doubt that's a tough stretch, but if we somehow found a way to drop those games, then the team wouldn't be as good as last year.
