we can assume that he'd be the first coach in college football history to turn 4 and 5 star recruits into 6 and 7 star material.

Imagine what he'd do at a program like Georgia.

He might actually do worse.

When you are dealing with only the elite of the elite they come in with egos, they come in with promised expectations of playing time. Only the Nick Saban's of the world have enough clout to put those kinds of kids in their place, all the other coaches are just trying to ride the lightening like Jimbo did.

I think DGB was a really really good example for that. Pinkel couldn't get him to behave, to hit in his system designed to maximize three stars. If Pinkel had a team full of DGBs he is worse off than the team of three stars looking to prove themselves.

Pinkel has it pretty good for what he is and who he is. I think he knows that. hence why he has stayed at Mizzou so long.

Yeah, too bad he's at Mizzou instead of a real football program.

Well that's not true

There are a lot of coaches who, given that many years with that much talent, would have at least one championship

sure there are. There are lots, I fully realize that other coaches (other than richt) could have been here from 2001-present and won a title.

I highly doubt pinkel is one of them.

It's going to really suck for Mizzou when the East isn't down anymore.

Gene f'n Chizik was able to win one with a player that Richt refused to recruit.
