Once Mullen went 6-6 you didn't care but when we were finishing #15 and 9-4 the tune was a bit different.

I think we all know now that the 9-4 team was actually HUD's

It was a mixture of the read option working with a big mobile QB and having a top 5 SEC defense.

Why would Texas want Freeze? They don't need a coach who can recruit. Texas needs a coach who can coach.

Besides, I thought Freeze had his dream job?

update: ack... I need a new keyboard.

Art Briles a more likely candidate than Freeze...and Briles has already beaten Brown. Briles has turned around two programs. Not saying Briles would get the job, but he's more proven than Freeze.

I thought you were saying we were over confident in Freeze having beaten his in state rival in his first year much like Nutt did and implying Freeze would spiral downward similarly. My mistake. I guess.

How you got to that^ from this:

Don't pretend like you wouldn't mind seeing Freeze move on. He beat an 8 win in state rival his first year. Another guy did that too.

Is confusing.

I've seen this argument a lot and don't really get it. I mean I get people love money and blah blah blah

BUT how much money could Texas offer him? How much money could Ole Miss offer him? What's the cost of living in Austin compared to Oxford? What about school systems? Public or private school? There are other expenses I'm leaving out but would the difference in Ole Miss and Texas' salaries really be worth it?

I know we can't match Texas in the max number but we could offer a very reasonable price ourselves, if it was needed.

Also, he's a hometown guy, family, connections and etc. So its really a moot point.

Plus he hasn't done anything great yet. He doesn't warrant an offer from Texas yet. They will want a splash/homerun hire. Not some 2nd year coach from Ole Miss.

The difference in cost of living between Austin and Oxford probably isn't much different, although I'm just guessing. I just know that the cost of living in Texas isn't high.

I agree that Freeze hasn't done anything to warrant an offer and that he might not go, if they did offer him. But I'm pretty sure that Texas could double anything Ole Miss put on the table, if it really wanted Freeze.

This has probably been mentioned, but Kirk Bohls is saying that Muschamp will be considered.

They're not going to offer Freeze a 6 million dollar a year contract. 4 at the most.

I think it's more like zilch. But if they really wanted Freeze, I'm sure they could pay $6M without blinking.
