And even going beyond the Grant of Rights that'll pop up in most new conference contracts, you have to look at voting blocks too. Clemson, FSU, etc. aren't getting in if some of our conference companions have anything to say about it (and rightfully so). I wouldn't blame A&M or Mizzou blocking former Big 12 folks if it came to that either.

Yeah, I agree.

I really expected the SEC to go to 16 but now, I don't see it happening unless the whole P5 and the playoff expansion thing drastically changes the landscape.

I know aTm would fight it but unless it's a Texas and OU package, I don't see SEC expansion.

I'm not sure, out of loyalty to the Aggies, that the SEC would even agree to that.

The SEC would rather get high profile schools from NC and VA. There is no rush, but they have the TV sets. Oklahoma who cannot get away from OSU and Texas who is not going to give up the failed network and will not split equal revenues might be future candidates if they change their stance, but I doubt this scenario will come to pass any time soon. UVA and UNC followed by V. Tech and NC. State would be more likely, but they have their own problems with leaving the ACC. Just my take on the current situation.

I don't think any moves are imminent in the near future.

Yes they can. Stop making shite up.

They've already started talking about what would happen to Okla State on Oklahoma sports talk radio if OU went to the SEC. OSU would likely stay in the Big whatever or go the way of the Pac 12.

There is no legislation on football conferences.

You realize the new ACC contract is for 20 years?

You're definitely right that it won't be in the near future. Enjoy it bc I won't be alive to see it.

Loyalty means nothing.

The SEC wouldn't take Texas because three of its members left leagues because of them.

Arkansas left the SWC because of Texas.
Mizzou and aTm left the Big 12 because of Texas.

Texas will go independent if something happens to the Big 12. They're arrogant enough to think they can make it on their own.

Quite frankly, Texas can go frick themselves. The mess that is the current Big 12 is largely due to their greed. Despite multiple teams that have won a NC since Texas in the SEC, the wealth has been pretty well shared. It's what has made the SEC as successful as it's been as of late IMO. The last thing the SEC needs is a program like Texas coming in trying to swing their dick around like they actually deserve their own network, higher revenue, etc.

Let them and OU go independent.

Oh I agree. Texas is poison so I personally don't want them.

I do think anyone who thinks the SEC would not give serious consideration to Texas are foolish. No worries, though. Texas pride won't let them join IF it were ever an option.

I honestly think most in the SEC would scoff at taking them because of the way they've conducted business. Like you said, they're a poison. I think the SEC would look elsewhere before they'd take on that clusterfrick.

If Oklahoma comes to the SEC; the SEC is ruined. adding that state to the network footprint is not a legitimate reason to add those frickers. they will not fit in at all. they are not even close to any point in the southeast. frick Oklahoma.

Damn Stroke...I would almost like to see them come in just to witness the fine reception the Aggies would give them.

they have almost zero chance of getting admitted. A&M, mizzou, Arky, LSU would all vote against it. that means every other team in the conference would have to vote yay; and this is all assuming the purported "gentlemans agreemant" amongst A&M, Georgia, Florida, USC does not exist.

The real question is if they come would we want them and how would this affect the scheduling from here forward?
