He could have hired a D2 coach.

Just saw your edit, comparing what I said in the OP with the John Gruden tards is why nobody else should respond to anything else you say in this thread.

You literally said that Tennessee could lure Marshall, a top 10 coach up to Knoxville. He's currently making more than Donnie Tyndall. He's coming off of a 35-1 season. Before that they reached the final four. Currently his in the elite 8.

So yeah, saying that "we could have had him" is comparable to the Volentards saying that Gruden was in play for UT.

Alabama can throw all the money they want at him, but I doubt he leaves WSU unless its for a top 10 job nationally.

All of what you just said goes against what guys like Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander have said. Schools like Tennessee and Mizzou lowballed Marshall last season according to them. UCLA tried to hire him too early.

The guy is making $1.75m a year. You can only turn down so many massive offers waiting on a big school to open before something possibly happens and those offers go away.

Sounds like Hart committed a HaithCrime on Tenn basketball with that hire.

I don't disagree. But Where in the SEC would you rank the Alabama job currently? The only thing Marshall is missing from his resume is a National Title.

It'd be easier for him to win a Title currently at WSU than at Alabama. Why not keep winning there until a top job opens up?

Exactly what I was thinking.

Who would have ever thought UT would have a Bama man as AD, and Bama would have a former UT Head Football Coach as AD (Although there is no doubt Bill Battle is a Bama man).

If they live up to all the promises they are apparently making to him then it is near the top.

Facility upgrades, massive recruiting budget, private jets, etc.

In its current form it is some where in the middle as a basketball job.

The Athletic program itself is one of the tops in the country though.

It is hard to say. His undefeated team got screwed by the committee and was placed in one of the toughest regions I have ever seen. They got bounced by an 8 seeded Kentucky team that had no right being an 8 seed.

Maybe at Bama he is provided a larger profile to attract better players and get over the hump.

I don't think he is going to come to Bama, I just don't think it is as ludicrous as many on this board are trying to make it out to be.

If it makes you feel any better, Hart was one of the geniuses that recommended we hire Grant last time out. Mal asked CM Newton and Hart who he should hire. Both agreed on Grant. Thanks guys!!
