Well no shite we are going against one the best coaches in the history of the game. Richt would've been fired 5 years ago if you were in the same state as Saban.

I don't disagree with that. But that is only because of Bama. You put Auburn in any other state in the SEC rn, and no other program has done as much as Auburn has.

Auburn is 1 QB away from being a NC contender THIS year. Yeah...a real shitshow.

A&M or LSU. He has to much hype to go to any other school on your list. I can't see Arkansas hiring Les Miles if they actually fired Bret. I could see Arkansas hiring Art Briles if they fired Bret.

If LSU opens up this year it will be the best job available in the country at the time.

So LSU.

This has nothing to do with Saban. Bama is in an elite historic category shared by 4-5 schools nationally (think ND and USC). You happen to be in the same state. Sux for Auburn, but that's what it is.

You're looking at this wrong.

It's not just the program history that attracts a good coach. It's the upside potential.

Who has more upside potential for Herman than LSU?

1. Ability to walk in and have immediate success with good coaching, in the very area he specializes.
2. Recruiting in the top 5 that overlaps with the area he already recruits.
3. Trained, played, and roomed with Aranda at Cal Lutheran, defense already in good hands.

Texas will not have an opening.

The biggest factor in whether he goes anywhere else is whether UH joins the Big 12.

I don't think any Auburn fan has ever argued differently. However, currently, it has everything to do with Saban. To say otherwise is folly.

Unless USCw opens up too.

USCw is on par with LSU. I think for him personally, though, he'd do better at the school whose area he already recruits and who only needs its offense fixed.

Currently what has everything to do with Saban? Why Herman wouldn't go to AU over LSU or Texas has nothing to do with Saban.

Why Alabama is top dog in the state right now, as the person you were responding to said, which you said was not the reason.

I think you're confusing yourself. You said he won't come to AU because we don't own the state, which is true but only because of Saban. Now you're saying states don't matter because Alabama is beyond state and is a historically nationally elite program.

I'm not confusing myself at all. You and gocrazy are missing the point entirely, which is understandable.

When you had Tubs and rolled off 4-5 in a row, while Bama's coaches were banging hookers or named Shula, Bama was still top dawg in aladambama. I know it hurts and I wouldn't like it either. Buts that's the way it is. Saban simply reinforces that point....with an exclamation point. I'm sorry for Auburns plight, I really am. But little brother will always be little brother.
