Exactly, a direct result of the product they've put on the field.
Think of football in the same vein as making bourbon. It takes years for it to age and mature. Alabama, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame have decades of history to bring value to their brand. While nobody would doubt the Cards have had a good run this year it will take decades to see if it ages well or flames out like Miami did when they joined the ACC.
National championships at Miami :
Baseball: 4 (1982, 1985, 1999, 2001)
Football: 5 (1983, 1987, 1989, 1991, 2001)
Men's Crew: 1 (1988)
Women's Golf: 5 (1970, 1972, 1977, 1978, 1984)
Women's Swimming and Diving: 2 (1975, 1976)
Polo: 4 (1947, 1948, 1949, 1950)
Miami joined the ACC in 2004 and have not won a National Championship in ANYTHING since even tho they rocked the 70's, 80's, and 90's.

I want to Keep it at 14, but boot 2 from the bunch.
Bring In:
1) Florida State
2) Louisville
Boot Out:
1) Missouri
2) Mississippi State
As far as Florida State goes, the athletic program is a no-brainer. They are continuously good at football, baseball, and basketball. Though some might knock their football program for playing in the "weak" ACC, I'd still take them over all but about 4-5 teams currently playing pigskin in the SEC.
Though Louisville is a hot commodity right now, they have always had sustained success in basketball, and overall a very steady football and baseball program. If we could get those guys, it would provide us with an "ultimate" conference rivalry in basketball with UK that we have in so many ways already in football.
As far as booting Mizzou, this past year says it all. They were supposed to bring the wood in basketball... and they didn't even do that. On basketball alone, Louisville ousts them without batting an eye lash.
As far as Mississippi State goes, they have an excellent baseball program, but nothing else. That void is easily filled by a perennial winner in Tallahassee. The left field lounge will be missed, but I've ALWAYS thought State's best chance of yearly success was in the Big 12. They'd challenge for titles in football and baseball on a yearly basis, and could reach a larger recruiting footprint outside of Mississippi, where in most years, Ole Miss has the upper hand. Perhaps having greater success in another conference would help recruiting in-state, where Ole Miss will never finish higher than 3rd in football, or most other sports for that matter.
