The only question I have with Jones is his in-game coaching/player development. He's a proven recruiter.

This is absolutely fair at this point. Another "Vol fan" in another thread said that we will have a talent advantage in 9 games, but a coaching advantage in only 5, so we'll only win 7. :it's science:
But, last season we had a talent advantage in only 5 games, but we won 6.
I'm not sold on Jones as a coach yet either, my skepticism stems from the loss to Florida last year, but to completely write him off as a bad coach at this point is just asinine. This year is gonna tell us a lot more about Jones than the last 2 years have.

Maybe if he was less corny, he wouldn't be 1-18 vs ranked teams.

If jones or sumlin are being interviewed I change the channel. They don't say anything. Butch is 100% coach speak and sumlin talks in circles.

Yep, I agree. A good example is Bielema, way too many Ranters wrote him off as a joke of a coach way too early. Now many of those same people praise him and the bright future Arky has now since he arrived.
We live in an instant gratification age, and what some don't understand, is sometimes, coaching takes a while to turn a program around. Jones may or may not be the answer, but it's still too early to make the call.

I've defended UT fans from drunk frat boys in Gainesville before. I'll not make that mistake again. I'd hate to go against the stereotype.

Butch is gonna win some games. What people dont understand is there was a lot of inner stuff going on during Fulmer's years. He had not only the Means thing but the deal where a girl claimed she was raped by a UT player and FUlmer set up a meeting with her before the Cops could talk to her. That didn't go over well in Knox county and I believe he ws reprimanded for it. There was this ideal that Fulmer was a god to UT fans and to them he was, to some at UT he was certainly not. There were way more issues with Fulmer than have been made public about his way of "doing business" and his reluctance to really adhere to those above him and his recruiting "practices". Hence why a man with over a 70% win percentage hasnt been even remotely discussed as a possibility at another school. People arent going to bring what they've heard into their program whether those things are true or not.

I say this with the utmost respect to Tennessee, Butch Jones is a clown and tries way too hard to be liked. Its so contrived.

This is what I said about Tennessee & Butch Jones at the end of 2013 -
TN needs to go 8-4 or better; I think 7-5 would not cause heads to explode; but in their hearts, Vols fans want/need to see at least 8-4, with one of the 8 being UGA, UF or Bama

Sure, it was a bad year for the Vols, but after the Kiffin / Dooley disaster; fans saw enough this year to raise hopes and expectations. I can't help but think that Butch Jones is the right guy for this team and that better days are ahead.
