But Lane Kiffin is a very good hire for Alabama. His offenses at USC were jawdroppingly good, and Tennessee improved tremendously on offense. It's going to be tough to recruit against him too. My only concern would be how he works with the staff since he is largely unfamiliar with them. But overall, I think it's a solid hire.
Your Auburn brother "HailToTheJizz" doesn't think so.......

I agree...I like the hire and have talked to several boosters and Alumni old and young and they like the hire as well and agree that a change was needed at OC.

I think the hire is a home run hire and Kiffin will fit right in with Saban and at Bama.

I've tuned in and laughed at their ineptitude the last two years in various games.

Yes, I usually have three games on three TVs at once

The USC offense has been a joke. Once he left, they took off, but I'm sure that's just a coincidence...

Except when he was HC there and didn't have Steve Sarkisian to help him.

Lane and his eval and criticisms of Nuss when he came a few weeks ago is what prompted Saban to consider him for the job.

You don't say! So Lane was critical of someone knowing that by being critical it was going to help himself.

Am I the only Bama fan who is less than thrilled to have hired Kiffin?

I'm amazed at the sudden lovefest for him by Bama fans when a month ago you couldn't find a single Bama fan who had one good thing to say about this guy. Hope I'm wrong but on the face of it this seems like a disaster in waiting.

So you're saying that Orgeron's a better coach?

Or do you think it may have something to do with Kiffin's just not a good "head" coach and couldn't get the players to "buy into" his offensive schemes.

The UT offense was pretty good with Kiffen also Kiffen at USC as an OC was really good.

Can he keep violations on the low down? Clearly he couldn't at Tennessee during his 1 year stint!

Anything has to be an upgrade from nuss.

He lost the games for them the last few years IMO.

I don't know about that. In their two losses, they had issues all over. They had over 1000 yards of offense against Auburn and OU and scored 28 and 31. Against Auburn, they missed three field goals (and the prayer field goal as well which had the game winning return). Putting up almost 500 yards and 28 points on the road with no turnovers should equal a win for Bama, but their D couldn't stop Auburn when they needed to most. Auburn ran all over them for almost 300 yards. Also, their special teams blew it in every way.

Against OU, their offense killed themselves with turnovers. But still, OU had 31 points at half. Bama's D got schooled in the first half. OU's QB had 3 passing TDs at half and their offense had 265 yards. When a QB finishes 32-44 for 348 and 4 TDs, you have more problems than just your offense.

Also, they won against aTm, but it wasn't because their D gave up 42 and over 600 yards. So Bama had some issues on both sides of the ball.

No it didn't. With Kiffin they averaged 26ppg. After he was fired they averaged 31.7ppg. However, two of those games were 47 points vs Colorado (112 in scoring defense) and 62 points vs Cal (122 out of 123 in scoring defense). Remove those two scores and their scoring actually dropped to 25.2 ppg.

what can be seen from a mile away is you and your inbred ilk attempting to convince yourselves this is a good hire...after talking complete shite about the man for years... and its HILARIOUS! thanks for the comic relief bammers.

SEVEN points in the second half (the 99 yard TD pass), including three red zone trips with nothing to show for it. Bama was the only team in Auburn's last four games to not score over 30 points.

Also true, but for large chunks of the game the offense was feast or famine. Either hit a huge play or go no where.

Yeah, well, when you miss four field goals (I only really count three though) and you turn it over on downs going for it on 4th because you're scared that your FG kicker will miss another and the other team will run over your D and score, then you have multiple issues - not just on offense.

The offense was more of a problem against OU simply because of the turnovers. I think OU played a legitimately good game.

then let's take away Kiffin's highest point totals if you want to somehow try to make a point that way
