Actually, in the case of Starkville, it makes perfect sense to me.

Lets hold on there a second...I was around and following SEC football then...truth is...the SEC had few rules, it was a "southerner gentlemens club".

Ole Miss, Bama & UT didnt want to play UF for years..ditto Vandy....everybody had their favorites...UF played AU, UGA & Ga Tech almost every year....Bama hardly ever played UGA after the early 60s when Butts was replaced as HC. The drama surrounding the Post magazine article about Bryant and Butts fixing a game overheard on the phone by Atlanta businessman didnt help.

So...lets not bury Ga Tech for scheduling issues.
The Yellow Jackets had some really good teams over the years...especially the 1950s. Those were the days of drop punts on third down, 3-0 or 3-3 games....solid defense that I enjoy watching.
Billy Lothridge was a very good qb for Tech...Center Bill Curry (how the hell did he ever end up as Bama HC?)RB Lenny Snow etc etc

This can't be a real Florida fan. He's acknowledging that football existed before 1990.

Ya'll just don't know how good you have it. You really don't. Every week is a bowl game, and every game has just so much riding on it. You don't know because the SEC is all you know. There is a different level of excitement, play, professionalism to this league you can't see unless you've been on the other side.

Every Saturday was Christmas this year.

We're glad to have A&M you're gonna fit in just fine.

We just gotta get A&M some female cheerleaders..

Id like to meet you in person and challenge you to a college football trivial contest not just SEC, but all college football...but SEC is great too. Been Gator fan since 1962...have seen the hard times brah. I bleed orange and blue. Love to sling shite but can catch it back with the best of them. I listened on the radio when a 6-3-1 UF team marched into Tuscaloosa (and by the way I have dined at the country club there...excellent fare and atmosphere)and upset the 3rd ranked Bama team 10-6, Dick Kirk scored on a 40 yd run...(and no, Im not looking at media guide...I remember)BTW ...to show how different things were then...we made a RETURN trip to Tuscaloosa the following year in 1964 (Spurriers soph season...frosh couldnt play then) and lost in a awesome contest 17-14 with Spurrier driving the Gators deep into Bama territory but rushed a FG and missed. Bama would not travel to Gainesville....skeered?

You know, when I read the title of this thread, I REALLY expected to read something like "...cause A&M is gonna crush all of your nuts, forever."

Thanks to the OP for disappointing me.

Reelgator, you and I would get along fine. I'm not old enough to have gone to a game in 1964, but I grew up in the golden years of Coach Bryant's crimson tide and know some tough years myself. I still remember being in shock when I came back in from deer hunting and my father told me we had lost to Ms State 6 to 3. I remember I couldn't believe it when Perkins left for Tampa (you don't LEAVE Alabama!), and when Preston Gothard fell hip first into the end zone to complete the greatest comeback I had ever seen...just to have it waved off.

I love to joke around with other fans, especially the stereotypes, so it's all in good fun.
