This. I understand the OP's perspective but honestly I feel that our fans are more objective/critical of our administration vs the all in Vol fans who post on this board.

I mean, assuming these things are true, obviously I do too. I figured that didn't need to be stated.

Huh? I would think acting like a bitch would be better characterized with your behavior during the week Ole Miss received the NOA. You disappeared from this board like a coward.

I'm here, like a man.

This implies more than one functional brain cell is on the other end of that post... it is alleged at this point.

If we didn't have the Vol&Shaft types filling up the UT fanbase around here then I might have a little sympathy for their fans/school.

Since their fans/posters are amongst the worst in all of sports, I'll just laugh at them.

Karma.

Not one of us has said anything to the effect of defending the athletic department in the event the allegations are true.

I find it concerning that you, a pretty solid poster, would say that we condone any of the wrongdoings that have been alleged.

I definitely feel bad for them. A lot of good people who had nothing to do with this at all (the community, mostly) are going to be vilified because people make stupid, easy assumptions.

I did not say that you or any Vol fan on this board condone any of the wrongdoings that have been alleged but I do feel the first reaction by many of your fans is to question the legitimacy of the allegations. In the same vein, it is also true that opposing fans on this board are overreacting by suggesting a culture of rape before the jury is literally out on said cases.

The reason fans of a certain school may not post anything after controversy (true or alleged) is that they wanted to get all the info. and not blindly defend their school, the coaches, and/or football players.

Admittedly, I am a fan of Ole Miss, but I am not fanatic about Ole Miss.

Of course that's the first reaction, nobody wants to believe that their beloved team/school is guilty. You can say that UGA's fanbase may react differently, but thankfully you don't have to know if that is true because you're not being accused of these things.

Which was my original point in this thread.

I find it sad that many UT posters are forgetting that the accuser also is a UT student. Some things are bigger than football. Not pointing a finger at you but some of the reactions are alarming to see for an outsider.

Absolutely, get to work.

I have NEVER posted anything that was untrue regarding this case. I post what I know, what I can verify. I have never said anyone was guilty or innocent, because I don't know, and neither does anyone else on this board.

Well... in the Penn State case... the NCAA dropped the hammer and Joe Paterno was forced to 'retire' all based on 'allegations' way before Sandusky's trial and conviction.

Which is why I think everyone needs to settle down a little bit before they make any more bad decisions. Paterno's firing was purely reactionary, had no basis in fact, and completely lacked due process (hiring Freeh to fill in the blanks to justify a decision made 6 months prior does not constitute due process). It was a mistake and people familiar with it in the legal world recognize it as a mistake

Tennessee has this in the history books, which means they're going to be far more cautious in terms of how they respond
