Could be any number of reasons. They didn't like his hair? Didn't they like the spread offense? They didn't like his interview?
All kinds of potential reasons.
What school offered him the HC job and was turned down? I'm seriously interested.

Muschamp was the second best coach in the league last week. This week it's Mullen. Next week it will be Smart, and on and on and on. SEC fans are so fickle.

Considering that LSU is almost constantly ranked top ten in recruiting whereas Misssissippi State rarely even breaks top 20, in 2014 they were like 35th or something.
That's pretty fricking impressive, seeing as they have Ole Miss, who until recently was actually a pretty strong program.
They didn't just beat a team with better recruits at every position -- they destroyed them. A 30 point victory is pretty incredible, even if it is Orgeron. Mullen is the real deal, and if he got hold of a program with more resources I think he'd do an outstanding job.

These guys do less with more. Imagine them with Florida talent..makes me want to ship Mac off immediately and offer them six a year to come show us them skills.
