I wouldn't have counted his time as a DB coach either but regardless of whether you care about what he did at FSU it was still Gus's offense against Pruitt's defense.

The fact that Gus didn't realize that Johnson was a headcase and afraid of contact before the season started should be worrisome to AU folks.

It always take Gus 3-4 weeks into the season to realize what he has. Even with Cam Newton

hey retard, I was obviously referring to pruitt's tenure. 7+13=20 / 2 = 10, which I clarified above

It wasn't clarified when I started to respond.

Even though it has been brought up to you. Those are Gus' scores against defenses that had Pruitt on staff.

Obviously Pruitt has gotten better against Gus, but more than likely he won't be a uga next year anyways.

I think there's still only a small minority of AU fans who want to see Gustav gone. Most of us are willing to stick with him another season to see if he can learn from this season's glaring mistakes.

That said, it's apparent that his and Lashlee's approach to the offense this year was disastrous. I hope to see some significant changes in the staff on that side of the ball in the offseason. If he stands pat, I'll definitely be moving towards the emergency exit at the back of the Gus Bus.

Another reason for patience: it's pretty apparent that we aren't likely to hire anyone clearly better than him if we were to make a change this year, even if the speculation about Strong at UTx and Richt at UGa were to come true.

And you're right about us hiring Boom. That would such an Auburn thing to do.

Eventually programs will get wise to the fact that most national title winning coaches do it quickly when they get to a program. Giving a new guy three years just because, or keeping a guy after a bad season because of previous success, in most cases doesn't work out. Every coaching hire is a roll of the dice.

Eventually some program will realize this and blow through coaches at a two year pace till they find "the one."

this is idiotic

I agree and that's where I am right now. I don't think the climate is anywhere near where it was in 2012.

I'm for giving Gus another run if he can find a QB, mainly one that can run. I don't trust him with a pocket passer at all.

how much sense would it make to use 2011 as a reference point where Auburn only scored 7 points, I mean gus was on staff right?

And that will be his downfall if he goes that route. He has a great pocket passer in Sean White, great skill players, and a defensive coordinator that can get this thing turned around. AU was very, very fortunate to get to the NC in 2013. 2010, AU had Cam Newton. It's evident, especially now with his NFL success, that a player his caliber won't come around again any time soon. Sustained success really hasn't been accomplished at the power 5 level with a dual threat QB every year, but has almost always happened with a pocket passer.

I'm willing to stay on the Gus Bus if he makes the right offseason hires/fires on offense and brings in someone that can help him develop an intermediate passing game.

1. The schools that sustain success are generally recruiting power houses that are proficient all around. Offense, defense, running game, passing etc... This isn't really a realistic goal for Auburn to be in the top 5 recruiting every year. They also are usually pro style offenses because they can afford to out talent their opponents. Gus is not a pro style coach.

2. Urban Meyer has sustained success pretty well with Dual Threat QBs.

3. Cam was a once in a generation player and talent I'll grant you that, but Nick Marshall was an athletic defensive back with a good arm. I love Nick but we could find another QB like him.

"Great pocket passer"? Come on, he's shown flashes but that's an huge exaggeration. Only outdone by this one...

great skill players

We do not have great skill players at all. There is a reason we are one of the worst teams in the country at big plays. Jovon has looked good the last two weeks (though he lacks elite speed) and Kerryon shows promise but our WR corp is awful.

This year has obviously been a disaster but there is a lot that has gone against gus statring with JJ being a headcase and losing lawson in game 1. Now that isn't to say there having been some head scratching coaching decisions this year because there have been and a lot of them.

However, all things considered, Gus should get another year to see if he can turn it around. My faith is really shattered after this year and I'm not sure he can get it turned around but he deserves the chance.

I know! What else would you Arkansas turds obsess over if we let him go? You can't want us to keep him for competitive reasons.

My confidence in Gus, on the other hand, took a big blow this year and I am 50-50 as to whether he'll rebound.

As posted earlier.

My faith is wobbly in his ability until he can prove he makes us better than our roster alone. 50/50 is pretty fair and I agree.

But whatever % my faith in him is, I'm still solidly in favor of keeping him around a few more years. We have to eat the fact that we fired our last coach 2 years after winning a national title and I'm not about us doing the same with Gus.

Worst case, let him flat-line/stabilize us, and if we feel like there's a good year of talent for coaches out there, make a decision then.

But going back to beginning, I still think there's a chance he can put this behind him if he starts recruiting the type of players he should be.

Very slim chance bama scores 31.

That moment you realize that points can be scored off the offense.... like a lot in Jeremy Johnson's case. Heck Alabama's back field will be salivating every time JJ steps back.
