That was my point all offseason about this team, and that was assuming Johnson would be a good thrower. The counterpoint was always "well what about Tulsa and Chris Todd", which was always strange because Tulsa was in CUSA and Chris Todd really wasn't anything more than pedestrian against better defenses.

Gus needs a really good O-line to make his power play an automatic 3 yards. If he has that and a scary running QB with a huge arm then the defense has to pick between 3 options on each play (a) 3-5 yard dive (b) QB keep run and (c) deep throw to 1-on-1 coverage. It is almost impossible to defend all 3 of those options. 2010 and 2013 were basically the most perfect personnel mash ups Gus could have had.

Gus needs to get super focused on recruiting quarterbacks who can run his system. it doesnt work without a running quarterback and a good offensive line. We took a lot of injuries on the OL this year. Muschamp will get the defense back where it needs to be. Theres been improvement this year, but with no real QB with any confidnece, the offense has been ridiculous.
Is Gus not capable of creating an offense that fits the QB's he has recruited thusfar?

That offensive playcalling is not good. And Gus feeding Barber the ball when Robinson appears to move it better is weird. Then the whole decision to put a gimpy QB in the game when he was obviously lame is strange.

I think Jovon got hurt or else Malzahn would have stayed with the hot hand.

The qb situation is a nightmare. When Johnson threw that interception, you could see he was done yet again. I feel really sorry for the kid, he is a complete headcase at this point. He kind of reminds of that qb from Wisconsin who fell apart.

I was also very pissed White was out there, he looked like a sitting duck.

I hope Jason Smith is getting some reps this week.

The problem is, we were getting better but our qb situation has crippled us. We might be 300% improved by the Alabama game and still lose by 31 points or more.

His 2 best QBs he's coached in the past 5 years have run at least a 4.6 forty.

pruitt has allowed 8.5 ppg to gus in his tenure. As long as we have pruitt, I hope gus sticks around too.

I think that was what most of us assumed. Little did we know the pick machine that was coming. It was not just that he was below expectations, his throwing actually hurt the team.

Again, do not want to pile on any kid who is playing, and I hope he gets it turned around. I am just afraid he is mentally shot and will not get his confidence back at AU.

Auburn has played for a National title twice in my life time, Gus was part of both of those times.

I am ride or die with Gus. I believe he will turn it around.

Do y'all not miss the days of actually not giving up 400 yards a game every year? Even in AU's 2 championship years in 2010 and 2013, the defense was bend don't break or porous at best.

So look at me with a straight keyboard and tell me you believe in Gus going forward.

He hired Muschamp. I'll give him a couple more years to turn it around.

Yea, obviously the hype was ridiculous (and Gus is complicit in that), but even worst case scenario couldn't have imagined he would be this bad. I just want to know what they saw in practice that lead them to talk so highly about him at every opportunity and how the game translation was so so so awful.

So was all that stuff rumor? I thought there were several reports that he was sowing discord among the staff.

Not in the know at all, just asking. I thought he and Richt were not getting along.

90% of crap you see on message boards is rumors. It's true that pruitt has ruffled some feathers the past few years, absolutely. Adn to be honest, it wouldn't shock me in the slightest for him to take a HC job after this season. But it woudln't be because of some stupid rumors, it'd be to further his carerer.

I can certainly see them having some squabbles here and there just due to pruitt's personality. But like you kind of alluded to earlier, there isn't a situation where they get in heated enough arguments that we're going to push him out the door in 2 weeks.

Off topic a bit, but it is a bit insane that people are calling to fire head coaches like Richt or Miles who have had so much success. I do not see how you could ever really justify getting rid of a coach who only lost three games in a season.

I mean, we will be lucky to break 500 and I still think we need to be patient.

it's a very tricky situation. For the first time in 15 years I'm closer to the middle of the fence than on the extreme far right. He 100% isn't getting fired this year so there isn't even a point in wasting breath talking about it, but if we have another subpar season in '16 I might be ready to move on.

Well it is a different situation for sure. Our coach is in his third year and having a rough time, I think too many fans are quick to want to pull the trigger, thinking the grass is greener on the other side.

I get what you are saying about sub-par seasons, but he still does really well overall. And, you lost Chubb at the start of the Tenn game. Do you think the pressure is a bit more because of the success Florida is having this season?

This is the true sign that Gus is nowhere near as good of a coach as he was touted to be

Honestly, I could see Gus getting the boot next year and Muschamp getting the HC position. Don't ask me why, it's just a feeling.

Bottom line imo is that if you have to fire a HC you hired in less than five years, the AD should be the one to get the ax.
