The league was improved overall, but lacked a consistently good team. I do not think you will see an SEC Team in the Sweet 16. Alabama had some good wins, but had some really bad loses. Any team with average talent and coaching should have made the NCAAs this year. I think the league lacked both at times this year.

Just like Auburn gets to say "what if" this year we will be saying "what if" about Dazon Ingram being out - that's the difference between a tournament team and not one

and you keep making comparisons to Grant - Avery did a couple things Grant could never seem to do

a win over a ranked team and not just one but multiple for Johnson
beat a Florida team that was beatable - seriously Grant never beat Florida not even once
winning on the dang road for a change

the results are similar, yes, but this is a team that was picked to finish 13 in the league and managed to pick up some big wins that a fanbase can hang their hat on

the play of Obasohan has been inspired along with Jimmy Taylor becoming more than just a foul machine - at the end of the day we just didn't have the horses you need to go a full season and make the NCAA tournament

hopefully Avery can recruit

Yea, Ws don't count much.

W's do count but there are other things to consider when looking at the program as a whole.

I can look at Auburn and see that BP inherited a pile of shite and is trying build something down there. Yeah, the record this year is about the same as last year but I can tell that AU is better. Save for an injury and some NCAA crap, your team is probably on the bubble this year. Y'all had players on the court that shouldn't be playing in a P5 program.

Amazing how every possible insult to Bama belongs on the rant, though, isn't it?

Maybe this belongs on the Bama board, but no Ole Miss fan ever has standing to determine what is relevant to other people. You barely exist.

Bama didn't play any different compared to the team coached by Grant last year, other than lose to Auburn of course.

DAMN! That sounds like Auburn's football team the last couple of years.

Pearl didn't inherit a team with 18 wins the previous year. This years team had numerous issues out of the coaches hands. This year might have been his best on the court coaching jobs.

a lot of people ran into the injury bug Auburn ran into the injury cougar - the play of Bowers has been much improved this year

but AU fans shitting on a coach's first year is going to invite the kind of insults I'm throwing out

It's not like we returned the core that won 18 games. Our 3 best players graduated/left.

You mean a Bama fan cares about basketball only after the team is good?

Color me shocked...

Hilarious coming from an LSU fan. You guys averaged less than 10,000 per game in a season (2006) where you made it to the frickin Final 4!!!! Alabama outdrew you by well over 1,000 that season and we didn't even have that good of a team that year.

Yep. There shouldn't be ANY drop of for a team that loses their top 3 scorers and plays against an improved SEC the following year. But the win total is the same so that's all that matters..... (sarcasm on/OFF)

Trevor Lacy would have flourished on this year's team.

Every Auburn fan realizes that. It's about the Jimmies and the Joes not the X's and O's at this point. You do realize that we fielded a team of 7 scholarship players throughout most of the SEC play this year? Not much can be done with that at all, regardless of who the coach is. Bruce never had this talent discrepancy at Tennessee so you're comparing apples and oranges. It's not like he forgot how to coach.

right

and what we're saying is that we had a good season relative to our Jimmies and Joes and won a lot of big games we didn't think we were going to win

so we're pleased with the season - but apparently we shouldn't be "cause it's just like Grant WDE"
