The reality is that this year is not much different then those under Grant. He had Bama in position to make the Big Dance, but they always faded at the end. Either Johnson is getting too much credit or Grant was not given enough.

This Alabama team has 1 guy who can dribble a ball to the hoop and finish. The talent level is a joke.

You know this already, though.

I'm glad we outperformed our talent, but we imploded down the stretch and ended up not accomplishing anything.

I'm happy with it, solid year 1, but it's not worthy of bow down praise IMHO. Solid start, move on from there.

Not a cut on Johnson, but Grant took a lot of heat for similar production.

Unless you watched all of the games during Grants later years, you don't understand. There was no player development, no offensive movement, no in game adjustments, no real plan. He got good players who would end up transferring, etc.

I certainly didn't care about basketball the last 2 years, because Grant clearly wasn't the guy. That's not the same as not caring about basketball.

Maybe you're thinking about baseball. I couldn't care any less about that sport.

What was his 1-4 years? At this point Johnson hasn't even matched Grants last years total. Johnson has done a good job, but the fade at the end should be disturbing. Against teams with little to play for.

It's obvious that you never watched an Alabama game under Grant. If you did, you would see the difference between what is on the court right now vs then. You would also see the difference in the enthusiasm that the 2 coaches produced about the program.

The fact that you are just using W's as the metric for where the program stands proves that you are an idiot.

I don't have to deal with the bullshite of Atlanta while still getting to go to Atlanta anytime I want because it's 20 min away. I will take living in kennesaw any day over the shite in the city. 10 years ago kennesaw was shite. It's come a long way. Really not a bad town at all.

I wouldn't call it disturbing. Tempering expectations maybe. Despite some pretty poor records, there's no question the SEC was a much improved league from top to bottom this year compared to the last few years. Grant was at Alabama in years the league hit absolute rock bottom. Even the cellar dwellers this year with the possible exception of Mizzou all had stretches where they showed a pulse. Bama did fade this year but it was against a markedly improved league.

We'll have a more talented and skilled team overall next year but the one glaring issue will be replacing Obasahon's production. For that reason alone, we may have to suffer one more lean year next year before taking off.

There was, and it was warranted. But his lack of development of players and losing players to transfer piled up and lead to a subpar product over time.

Hopefully CAJ can build on it better than Grant. If not, the same will happen.

I was just saying it cause the one dude said there wasn't the same enthusiasm. I get while y'all are excited. I think it's a great hire. But I thought grant was too so shows what I know.
