Even with the best QB and RB on 3rd downs, Tennessee still couldn't close out games late?

Hurd was very good until you got to the money part of the field, inside the opponents 40 yard line.

Opp 39 to EZ
Webb : 67 carries, 208 yards, 3.10 ypc
Hurd : 108 carries, 394 yards, 3.65 ypc
Chubb : 37 carries, 167 yards, 4.51 ypc
Fournette : 81 carries, 376 yards, 4.64 ypc
Collins : 93 carries, 439 yards, 4.72 ypc
Henry : 146 carries, 694 yards, 4.75 ypc

Wow, that's pathetic. Not elite IMHO. But hey, better than the guy at Vandy!

Nobody in their right mind would ever pick Hurd over Fournette. Sorry

I wouldn't put Hurd over Fournette. But on 3rd and short, I want the 250 LB sledgehammer.

On 3rd and short carries (1-3 yards):

Fournette 17 carries for 60 yards (LOL), 3.53 yards per carry, converted 8 of 17 3rd and short carries for 1st downs.

sounds like Hurd should be playing fullback.

Hurd kills it on 3rd and short and on his own teams side of the field. That's where running backs make their money, clearly.

Hurd is the definition of a plodder. It makes sense he'd be solid on 3rd down.

Whats sad is that, even as a plodder, Fournette Henry and Chubb are better in the Redzone.

Did he play last year versus UF? The year before? I don't remember seeing him.

Not enough info to know exactly where those 3rd down runs were at.

Chubb didn't have enough carries IMO to include him with the others.
