Auburn averaged 2 plays more a quarter than Arky and Bama...2 plays. Shut the frick up already.

Auburn is not a hurry up team. Yes, they hurry to the line, but that is simply prevent the defense from matching their formations. Auburn sits on the clock a lot.

The good ole boys in the rule committee that get riled up with 'unsportsmanlike conduct' that almost every sport allows are pushing these rules through, not Saban.

This. This is the committee that put no celebrating and targeting rules into college football. And lets not forget the failure that was the clock rules that only lasted the 2006 season. And keep in mind this isn't just FBS involved. It's FCS, DII and DIII making these rules too.

quote:

This is a non-rules change year for the NCAA which means the only way the rules can be changed is if they claim it's for 'player' safety.

At least someone here can read

quote:

Who is trying to change the current rules of the game again?

Let's not act like the clock rules that currently allow the hurry up weren't put in place about 5 years ago.

quote:

“My suggestion is rather than spending a bunch of time coming up with a bunch of really stupid rules, spend that time coaching harder,” Leach said. “Worry about your own team and try to make your product better rather than trying to change the game so you don’t have to do anything.”

The problem with that Mike Leach quote is there's probably not a coach in America that would like to spend more time working on things than Nick Saban. However, NCAA rules prevent him from doing so because other coaches don't want to spend the same kind of time. He's simply turning the tables on them.

quote:

"The one thing that has always been offenses' deal is snapping the ball. That's the only thing we have."

That's so laughable. Offense has almost every advantage over the defense, including most rule changes.

quote:

Seems just like yesterday all the talk was about Saban taking Freeze under his wing and they had this special, growing bond, etc? Is this just a lovers spat? Can they get past this?

Freeze also says that Saban doesn't have the kind of clout to get the rule changed that everyone is saying he has and it's about the committee itself and not Saban.
quote:

I don't have a problem with the HUNH. I would be cool with Alabama running it in increments, but not exclusively (which I am not sure anyone does that). I just don't want to see 120 points scored every week and seeing defenses basically mail it in.

This. The NFL has almost legislated defense out of the game. Hate to see college do the same.

Scoring is down in baseball.

Yeah, no hitters used to be a rare commodity in baseball, now there seems to be a couple almost every year.
