all the article comments i been reading today - everyone pissed off at Saban.

All is right with the world. I don't want to declare victory yet, because I'm hopeful Saban and/or Bret will say something more ridiculous than they already have.

Show me proof that running an extra two plays a quarter has caused more injuries. There's fatigue after 2nd down...maybe we should cut it from 4 to 3 downs. Otherwise, change your tampon and wipe the blood off your leg you little bitch.

The thing is that people have this incorrect idea that Saban has man in black style operatives/influence, the truth is he doesn't.

The good ole boys in the rule committee that get riled up with 'unsportsmanlike conduct' that almost every sport allows are pushing these rules through, not Saban.

Seriously, he isn't Tony Soprano.

"Player safety" is a smokescreen and I wish someone would just admit it.

This is a non-rules change year for the NCAA which means the only way the rules can be changed is if they claim it's for 'player' safety.

quote:

In an NCAA statement, the NCAA Football Rules Committee said “research indicated that teams with fast-paced, no-huddle offenses rarely snap the ball with 30 seconds or more on the play clock.” The NCAA statement also said the proposed rules change also “aligns with a request from the Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports that sport rules committees review substitution rules in regards to player safety.” In the NCAA’s non-rules change years, proposals can only be made for safety reasons or for modifications that enhance the intent of a previous rule change, according to the NCAA statement.

The bolded part regards the HUNH proposal. I italicized the 'or' part because the targeting rules changes fall under that section since it would be to 'enhance the intent of a previous rule change.' Targeting was a prior rule change so it can be modified but since there's no previous ruling on HUNH any change that proposes to slow down the game has to be done for player safety.

IOW, they have to be dishonest and pretend it's for 'safety' if they want the rule changed because this is a non-rule making year.

I'd like a mandatory huddle if the offense substitutes.

So you think they should do away with the 2 minute drill as well? Otherwise, you're hypocritical as frick and just looking for a hand out.

And I bet you loved the shite your basketball coach ran when he was first hired. It worked for awhile and coaches adjusted, as opposed to running to the NCAA begging for hand outs.

If you have to play against a team loaded with 5 stars athletes, bigger and stronger that your team, the only chance you have is asymmetrical warfare, or in other words: the HUNH. If you take away that option, bama will have several more championships within the next decade.

Is that what college football need?

I agree. However, he was at these meetings pushing for this rule. He and Bert hid the fact that they were doing this. Because of that, none of the HUNH coaches were there to defend it. Coach Tub said that the AFCA conference was held last week. He said there wasn't anything mentioned about doing this.

In the spirit of player safety, we should also limit players participating who are over 250 pounds. What's more unsafe than getting steamrolled by all 600 pounds of Terrence Cody or all 320 pounds of Glenn Dorsey?

I think it's cute that the little bitches who are trying to change the rules through back room politics are trying to pretend like they are being the tough guys, when in reality they are scared shitless because they can't stop the hurry-up guys. They aren't tough enough to beat them without having to change the fricking rules. What a bunch of punkass pussies.

But some coaches, including Alabama’s Nick Saban and Arkansas’ Bret Bielema, have criticized hurry-up offenses, arguing that they give offenses an unfair advantage and don’t allow them to adequately substitute defensive players.
