5th bowl games
2nd SEC Championships
12th National Championships

That's the 'past reputation' I was talking about.
Unfortunately, we now live in a 'what have you done lately' world.

But this is a ranking of all-time programs, so the past is really all that matters.

Don't these teams comprise a group of some kind? And does existence of said group rustle those outside said group beyond recognition? Enough to deny said group's very existence, despite said group's existence being very real?

Where you finish compared to the rest of the nation is a better way of comparing you to the rest of the nation than trying to compare wins or win percentage (without sos) and comparing sec championships (with some teams having been in the conference longer than others).

About right, but hopefully after this year we can be considered a top 25 program. That year with John L and the dismantle and rebuild that were the first two years of CBB's tenure set us back in the national eyes a little.

Tennessee is a little high in your list I think. I know it's based on past reputation, but we went to Knoxville last year and handled them pretty well, so...

I don't want to come off like a dick, but unless Arkansas wins the SEC or the national title the perception of your program isn't going to change much nationally in a year. Also you beating Tenn last year isn't changing their ranking. They're a great program overall.

A 4 point come from behind win in which both coaches were trying to out retard each other down the stretch is not what I'd call handling a team.

Amazing how an ugly 4 point victory becomes a blowout in the minds of 97% of Arkansas fans over the course of 10 months. They probably think they have big dicks too.

The national perception of Arkansas IS trending upward.
From within the top 30 to within the top 25 (which is what I hoped for) is not THAT big of a one year leap.

Like I said, for most folks in this 'instant' world, perception is based on 'what have you done lately'.

If we want to go back and drag up the past, Arkansas HAS won a NC, HAS won conference championships, WAS perpetually in the top 20, often in the top 10... but I'm not giving that old history (like Tennessee fan wants to do) as much weight in the equation of where the program ranks nationally.

Isn't there an objective way of looking at this with wins and championships? I think LSU is in the top 10 and Bama is number one

We might be a good year from Harris, away from that.
To split hairs, you could say top8-12 for UT, UGA, and LSU.

I think your list is pretty good. There are certain details you're leaving out, like all time greats elevating certain programs as an example. From a national perspective, there aren't many programs that have had iconic, all time greats like Bo Jackson and Cam Newton walk through their doors. That is what I feel propels Auburn into the top 10-15 with the others you mentioned.

you think because Arkansas beat Tennessee one year changes their rating? And you think Arkansas is gonna become some nationally recognized great school in one season? Short of winning the SEC and national championship that isn't going to happen

Auburn is flat out not a top 15 program in the history of college football. They are clearly by any objective sense in the 15-20 range.

I buy his definition. LSU handled UT in 2010

That my friend, is your opinion. There isn't a clear, objective way to determine these things because of so many variables.. so not sure why you're being so definitive. But carry on..

A&M is 20th in AP poll, 20th in draft picks, top 10 in Heisman winners, 16th in all time wins, 20th in conference championships. Don't really know how that puts us in the 30's
