Farmer1906, without time to research, doesn't their ranking pretty much follow the alltime wins records for Div. I; at least for those top ten SEC teams?

No, they're looking at idiotic things like "how many weeks in the AP poll". So, get ranked in the preseason and for the first 6 weeks and finish unranked at 4-7, you get more points than a team who finishes the season ranked. Totally retarded system.

AU is 29-11versus Ole Miss.

Most of those games are since 1992.

Ole Miss wins since division play began: 1992,1999,2003, 2012, 2015

I certainly think they are better now, but if we are talking about ranking programs head to head, there is certainly some distance for Ole Miss to make up on AU.

Those guys have more rings than Georgia.

UGA has more SEC championships.
I would have LSU and UGA tied for 3rd. UF slightly ahead of AU for 5th.

What?

Lsu has more
National titles
Sec titles
Better win %
More wins alltime
And leads the head to head.

In no way are lsu and auburn tied.

Was surprised to see BYU that low. But there is a clear top 8 in CFB history before a massive dropoff.

The same sources that say Georgia has 2 have LSU with 4 so if they only have 3 then y'all only have 1.

Basically Georgia-- much like Ole Miss- was good before most of us were alive- if we did "rankings in the history of people who actually know what the Rant is"

But see? That's not what history means, does it?

All time. Just because you want to start at an arbitrary date (Is it arbitrary if it is based on when YOUR team became relevant?) doesn't make it so. See the thread title. If you want to concentrate on the greatest teams ever starting and ending at 1996 and 2008, then you might have an argument. But there was football outside of those dates.

Yes, but Auburn has gone to the National Championship more recently than LSU, so that gives them the edge.

See how that works? You want to use that against UGA, yet you want to use all time history to LSUs advantage?

Be consistent. Are you going to use recent history to give LSU an edge over Georgia, but Auburn the edge over LSU?

Or are we going for all time history (You know, what this thread is about) which make LSU and UGA virtually tied but makes you decidedly over Auburn?

Dude. You said this:

Georgia has 2 sec titles in 35 years. They arent top 4.

(And by the way....35 years would put us at 1980. We have FIVE SEC Championships, and LSU has 6, so let's not get TOO superior, ok?)
LINK

Then you say this?

quote:

What?

Lsu has more
National titles
Sec titles
Better win %
More wins alltime
And leads the head to head.

In no way are lsu and auburn tied.

Make up your mind? Are you going by recent history or are you going by all time?

LSU doesn't claim 1908 for some reason even though it's legit according to the NCAA, CFDW, and Winsipedia.

Per Winsipedia (LSU has 4 national titles on there and I think only 3 are legit, but I wasn’t sure about the other schools so I left it all in there. I think UGA has 3 on here, but they claim 2):

LSU:
Wins – 12th (770)
Win % - 13th (.650)
Bowls – 8th (47)
Weeks in AP – 10th (575)
Weeks at #1 – 12th (30)
National Titles – 13th
Conference Titles – 43rd

Georgia:
Wins – 11th (787)
Win % - 15th (.649)
Bowls – 5th (51)
Weeks in AP – 13th (542)
Weeks at #1 – 19th (15)
National Titles – 23rd
Conference Titles – 43rd

Florida:
Wins – 23rd (701)
Win % - 18th (630)
Bowls – 14th (42)
Weeks in AP – 12th (567)
Weeks at #1 – 10th (41)
National Titles – 20th
Conference Titles – 82nd

Auburn:
Wins – 13th (748)
Win % - 17th (.631)
Bowls – 16th (40)
Weeks in AP – 15th (533)
Weeks at #1 – 22nd (9)
National Titles – 20th
Conference Titles – 57th

Georgia is closest, but we own the head-to-head, have higher win %, and more post season success (natties) and average AP rankings.
