No idea how they managed to frick that ranking up.

Winsipedia didn't frick it up, the Aggie did. It's embarrassing to be confused with WKU but that's the price we pay for being a basketball school.

Basically Georgia-- much like Ole Miss- was good before most of us were alive- if we did "rankings in the history of people who actually know what the Rant is"

It'd be

1)Bama
2)Florida
3)LSU
4)Tennessee
5)Auburn
6) UGA

Considering that list has USC #1 overall I'd say it puts a whole lot more emphasis on individual player achievements than the team.

Ya'll are both right. The gap between us and UGA/LSU/UF/AU is closer as a result of the past 15 years for sure. But there is still a decently sized gap between us and the rest if you take recency bias out of it. Either way it doesn't really matter.

The gap is closer? All those teams have surpassed UT.

Rankings with appropriate gaps all-time

Bama

Tennessee

Georgia

LSU,auburn
Ole miss ,florida

I would put LSU and Auburn who are almost sister programs a tad ahead of florida and ole miss who historically are comparable as well.

I hate that it disregards a certain portion of important CFB history, but when you're comparing all the schools at once it's better to stick with, say, "AP, Coaches, then BCS, then CFB Playoff Champ"

You need to slide the Bowl Alliance in there between AP/Coaches Poll and the BCS.

Honestly how do you say that? If we're talking all time, which the big 6 is, we're second to bama in win pct, conference championships, wins, national championships, and 2nd or 3rd in mostly every other category except heismans.

I'm not talking "all time", which is why I say those teams have "surpassed" UT. I don't think titles in the 30s, 40s, and 50s are much relevant these days.

The Bowl Alliance basically just pitted #1 and #2 of the AP poll. The BCS was the first one to use a formula, if memory serves.

Maybe flip Auburn and Tennessee, and I think this is the order since expansion.
