I might give Tennessee a bit more separation from the rest of the big 6.

In 2000 yeah, the last 15 years has closed that gap considerably.

While I agree, if we are talking history, they still have a decent amount more National Championships, and 39 more wins. That was my reasoning. However, I'm good with your assessment, too. I just gave them the benefit of the doubt for their championships on a National level.

RELEVANT national titles mind you

Most people recognize us for two. just because you don't doesn't mean it goes away, does it?

Some metrics are more valuable than others, yet are all weighted the same if I am reading it correctly.

Northern and Western bias is apparent in Heisman winners and All-Americans.

Being in a more robust conference (and therefor splitting championships more often) hurts some teams. I mean, Rutgers is #7 in that category.

It may not alter the list too much, but I prefer all-time win % over all-time wins. Not everyone started football at the same time, or played in as many games back when it was more of a club sport.

Even as a Bama fan, I think I would prefer a more uniform methodology for National Titles. I hate that it disregards a certain portion of important CFB history, but when you're comparing all the schools at once it's better to stick with, say, "AP, Coaches, then BCS, then CFB Playoff Champ" - anything prior to that will be claimed (and most with at least some legit claim to it) by multiple schools.

Overall though, the list isn't bad. 7 current SEC schools in the top 16 is pretty impressive.

Ya'll are both right. The gap between us and UGA/LSU/UF/AU is closer as a result of the past 15 years for sure. But there is still a decently sized gap between us and the rest if you take recency bias out of it. Either way it doesn't really matter.

Historically speaking Tennessee and Alabama put football in the south on the map.

Kentucky is above Vanderbilt and Mississippi State. No idea how they managed to frick that ranking up. Kentucky and South Carolina are extremely close historically, but they do have us head to head so they should get the nod.

If we're only counting AP/Coaches then UGA only has 1.

You have a 13 year old shared title and an 8 year old 2-loss title. Pump the brakes a bit

Arkansas has more too 10 finishes. Higher all time avg. AP rank, head to head, and it was known that the SWC was Texas, Arkansas, aTm as programs go. Arkansas above aTm.
