Isn't that the game where Dale Brown came back out and asked to speak to the Arkansas fans?

I watched the link, and Dale and Nolan had quite a long, friendly handshake at the end. He may have.

I think so. I do remember him doing that. Good guy.

Old Barnhill didn't have a whole lot of seats but I still believe it had to be one of the loudest places in the country at the time.

Hell some of the gymnastics meets get somewhat loud at Barnhill when you get the parents screaming.

ETA: This has been a good thread, LSU and Arkansas fans can both come together and rejoice over the times we didn't suck in basketball.

I watched this game with a Volunteer friend. He had been giving me crap all week and then this happened...

I was at that game. Tennessee was preparing to accept an Orange Bowl invitation, and when they scored to go ahead 24-16, the insufferable choruses of Rocky Top started. They only got more ardent when the 2PCA failed; the stadium was buzzing, as loud as any game I had ever been to in Neyland.

Then the onside kick was recovered and the FG nailed....and it went dead silent. I, and another guy about 30 rows down stood on our chairs, and sang Rocky Top at the top of our lungs to the stunned Tennessee crowd. They started chucking oranges at us, and security came to rescue both of us from what would have undoubtedly been whiskey fueled deaths.

Great fun, during an awful season.

Do you remember Shaq and Corliss going at it? I was 12 or so when that went down.

It wasn't Corliss, it was the Big O Oliver Miller, and he owned Shaq twice

I just did. It proved my point you've become obsessed so much that you want to talk about us in a normal conversation.

We were ok at basketball and crap at football. I was only 3 at the time so I'm not sure on many of the details.

Great thread! Both LSU and Arkansas had similar seasons in football and basketball that year. But I enjoyed it, even during football season. It was just a fun year overall.

I hear ya...and the "O" played well against Shaq but I don't ever recall him owning him (unless you mean by team score). Shaquille was a badass, plain and simple. The "O" matched up well against him but not many players did. LSU had some really great teams back then and yes, we beat them, but it was nearly always very close.

Both of those teams would whoop the dogshit out of any team playing today.
