Saban's first four yrs, vs those first four at Lsu.
Can't compare the two because Bama would have never hired him from Michigan State.
By the time you guys got him he was established as a great recruiter/defensive coach.
Bama would have never hired Miles out of Okie State either.
In our lifetimes you guys haven't been very receptive to outsiders. Dennis Franchione is the only exception.
You spend way too much time thinking up these ingratiating threads.
You should try to gain some self worth though your own actions. Basing your own worth on one's favorite sports team's success can result in a miserable life.

As an example.. we'll take a look at Saban's first four yrs, vs those first four at Lsu. While at this point, the Championships are equal, the wins are not. Factor in that Lsu doesn't compete with another legit Div 1 school in state and it makes me wonder how much more successful Bama could be if it had the state to itself.
You can't possibly think it's the same situation, right?

I don't think Fulmer would have been much better at Bama, if at all.

Yep, 2 SEC titles in 4 years at LSU why only 1 at Alabama in that same time frame. What gives?

If you want to see how a coach will do, look at Fran Phony at Bama and his record at TAM, Shoola and Dubuse both posted 10 win seasons.. throw in Stallings who had 1 winning season in 7 at TAM and then won a MNC at BAMMER and it is clear that the REC, the facilities, the tradition, the academic administration, etc. would give almost anyone a better coaching record... you will find that type support at Texas, tOSU and Alabama

Posted by Alahunter I agree, they are better examples, but for added emphasis, as good as Saban was at Lsu, he is still even more successful at Bama. No matter the level of coach, there is marked improvement.
He also wasn't taking over a program that managed only three wins the year before. Including a loss to houston. It's really a terrible comparison hunter.

How bout factoring in...LSU plays Florida EVERY year...while BAMA does not...wonder if that would make a difference...

2007 is the only yr Bama hasn't played Florida since he's been here. If you wanna go that route.. Bama had to play a NC winning Florida, something Lsu didn't have to face in the yrs he played them there.

To be fair, he was very young at the time.

Coach Saban also got his first undefeated season at Alabama.

While you're wondering that, wonder this:
How much more successful would Saban have been at LSU if Florida wasn't the Tigers permanent opponent from the SEC East?
Both Alabama and LSU face Auburn on an annual basis. But only one team in the SEC West has to face the Gators year in and year out and that is LSU. Barring that Saban would have had a few more wins.
