me personally - I have no illusions or expectations anymore - we won the title, so now all I want to do is watch us play and enjoy the game - we win great we lose, whatever - i got the title in my lifetime - im good.

im thinking 500 - anything better will be gravy - but if we finish 500, i wont be upset.

we lost to uab in his first year here. players didn't buy all the way into the system yet. samething with bamas first year.

I think bama making coaches better is a better point with shula than saban. Saban clearly has a drive to be the best. He was great at LSU left came back and after a first year struggle at bama he has improved on his coaching over there. I dont think school has much to do with it in sabans case its more his own personal drive.

plus the qbs cant be overlooked. as much as bench hates him the ginger made saban better

yes but mauck didn't stay healthy so saban has a half season of one shitty marcus randal causing a 02 team to take more losses than it should vs bamas 08 team staying healthy and getting to a sec championship game.

with mauck in 02 LSU is in the sec title game, now we had one loss before he went down and id guess we would have lost the bama game in 02 anyways but who knows.

then 04 we had to deal with marcus again. the ginger was much better than marcus.

saban has had better injury luck with qbs at bama on top of his coaching improving with personal drive.

our titles have driven me the other way. I want more we have 2 so i want 4 of them now.

04 and 08 were miserable years following titles

Yeah, but his last year at LSU he was pretty much on his way out and sucked it up. Who knows what could happen in this 5th year, he very well could have the same record at both schools.

If Bama has made Saban great (or greater), why do yall continue to suck his balls so much? I mean, hell.... Shula and Dubose won there?

I agree, they are better examples, but for added emphasis, as good as Saban was at Lsu, he is still even more successful at Bama. No matter the level of coach, there is marked improvement.

I think Saban's success since he arrived at Bama is not just from being at Bama...I think he was a better coach when he arrived at Bama than when was at LSU...

*I now see I am not the first with this same thought...

also lets not forget that since saban has been at bama the number of games has changed in the college season.

2000- his first year at LSU 11 reg season plus bowl game. first year at bama 12 reg season plus a bowl game.

2001-11 reg season,1 sec tite win,1 bowl game 13 on the year bama in 08 had 14 games

2002-12 reg season, 1 bowl game-13 games at LSU, 14 at bama

03 lsu played 14 bama played 13

he has gotten 2 more games in his time at bama so far thanks to the schedule

I see what you're saying, and I think you can have more easy success at Bama, but it's apples and oranges here.

When Saban came to LSU, he was Nick Saban. That's it. He was building a resume still. No name, no ESPN commercials...

When he came to Bama he had a NC, NFL resume, and a huge name; biggest in the NCAA. It's a little easier to recruit and turn a program around with that on your side.

its a theory that just has alot of holes in it (using saban). his time at LSU and bama haven't been the same and its not because of the school its other factors.

less reg season games for 2 years= less rent a wins.

sabans bama teams have been pretty injury free the last few years, that wasn't the case at LSU esp at the qb spot.

saban coming to LSU that was 3-8,back to back losing seasons vs going to a bama team that made a bowl the year before he got there and 2 years before won 10 games.

its probably better to look at talent in that case but either way he had to change the larger culture here considering back to back losing seasons.

Saban came here as a good coach but not a house hold name, Saban left here as a great coach. Saban goes to bama after being humbled by the NFL.

Saban is no slouch that just never improves, the man has work ethic and drive so his career isn't a straight line where he doesn't learn or improve so clearly at each stop while he isn't old and senile like a joe pa he should improve. Its the way he is.

he could have come back to LSU and improved upon what he did his first time at LSU, he could have went to UF and did what he did at bama, he could have forced bobby bowden to retire and the man would have a nc at fsu right now and a gaudy record probably even better than what he has at bama.

Bamas fapping to making coaches better has more legs with the shula types than a guy like saban.

If i hadn't already blown up the argument id go back and compare the conf now and then.

Ive benn openly saying this spring that if someone said I'll give AU a NT but you have to also have a 6-6 type season the next year...id be fine with that.

Why don't we just let him put his time in. Then we'll look at it.

or maybe saban just actually improved as a coach from his time at LSU to his time at bama.

This.

Odds say Saban will not win another N.C. It just doesnt happen in the modern era.

considering LSU was in a worse state than Bama was (at the time) Saban took over both schools...

Seems like the question ought to be how much more successful Saban would have been if he came back to LSU instead of settling for Alabama
