I don't think Saban will ever take the plunge into the NFL again as his style of coaching is not likely to work unless he has a lot of people backing him, meaning the people who write the contracts and hold the purse strings.

Heck if Mack doesn't do well this year, the Longhorns and Cowboys will be in a bidding war for the angry little man from West Virginia (and it is worse for Bama if he wins the title again this year, he really won't want to hang around after that.)

Let me think about this.... you are at the most recognized football school in college football who has a deep, winning tradition, you already make millions of dollars there with 2 NC's already and probably another this year and a damn powerhouse team on the field EVERY year? Why the hell would he want to leave that?

Agreed, little Nicky will retire from Bama. Do not blame him one bit! He has it made and will win tons of games AND crystal while he is there. Shows just how smart he is. Most LSU fans hate the man and look for ways to degrade him but I am a realist and understand the decisions he has made,; have nothing but respect for him and his abilities as a coach.

That may end up happening, but it will be because other opportunities never sufficiently matured. IF he truly intended to stay to 2025 or whatever, why no buyout in his contract? It would be worth more money if he would agree to a buyout. He hasn't agreed to it, ergo, he intends to leave.
Be thankful - even if he leaves after this year, ya'll will have had him 1 year longer than any place else.

Exactly the same thing happened last year against MSU - I'm not nervous because we won @ Auburn.
I'm not hoping Saban leaves, I really don't care. Everybody has to deal with coaching changes every 5 to 8 years, statistically. Saban is going to retire, die or leave Bama in the future.
However, if you want to think he's not out there probing every possible vacancy, go ahead - doesn't mean he isn't doing it. If the right opportunity comes along, he will go. There are only a handful of opportunities that could sway him, and Texas and the Cowboys are 2 on the very, very short list. If Penn State hadn't imploded, that would have been another one (one that, ironically, money wouldn't have been as significant a factor).
Bama's problem is - ya'll can outbid most suitors - but, again, Texas and the Cowboys are on the short list of those you cannot. Anyway, good luck with Kirby Smart or whoever.

I'm in no way suggesting Saban wouldn't or couldn't be offered by an NFL team. But to suggest that NFL team's wouldn't be interested in him is just asinine.
His former boss, Belichik, no doubt would have been labeled an NFL bust based solely on his first attempt, but he worked his way back into another shot - just as Saban is doing right now.
It would definitely take the right situation for Saban to succeed, and there are no garuntees that he would, but surely Belichick and Tom Coughlin are examples that that mindset can work at the NFL level.Not to mention, Saban came back to the college game better than when he left, who's to say he wouldn't do the same with the Pro level - learning from his past mistakes.

But I agree he's a far better college coach, and he's most likely going to retire from Alabama.

Smart move on his part. You never know when something out of your control (ie rogue booster) gets the NCAA interested in cratering your program. No buyout leaves him an exit plan. Bidness is Bidness.
