Kirby

Good luck with your new coach and I think he will be a very good head coach. Georgia has a very good recruiting base and he should have success there, not sure of Georgia expectations

Look at programs like LSU where a coach wins 10 games in a season and his job is on the line, and this talk of the 3 fine coaches needing to win a certain number of games to avoid being fired is just stupid.

every team in the SEC is not going to win 10 games, just not possible as we play each other so there are going to be coaches in line to be fired every year with high expectations from every program.

Georgia for example hires Kirby and if Kirby does not deliver a SEC East championship soon is his job safe, how many years can he go without and be safe.

Sumlin's hot seat is a fabrication. Charlie Strong is the only coach in TX on the hot seat. Sumlin's contract is until 2019.

If Sumlin wins 9+ games, he will be "rumored" to be considering the NFL or another high profile college job. This is what happened after 2012. It is what happened to Briles (Baylor), Patterson (TCU), and now Herman (UH). This is just the way things are in TX.

People that think Miles has to win some kind of Championship to stay are not in touch with reality. After the fiasco last year, miles' position at LSU is only strengthened.
Miles is safer this year than he was last year.

Miles needs 11 wins in the regular season with the 1 loss being to anyone but Alabama. Sumlin needs 9 wins, but I feel of all listed, his may be the most difficult to retain; he has lost control of the program. Malzahn, barring a complete implosion, will be back next year. However, Jay Jacobs, the Auburn AD, will not. The new AD will be the one to fire Gus next year.

I think Les is safe at 10 regular season wins as long as we're competitive / close in the 2 losses. But, this is his most complete and experienced team since 2011 so we're expecting more than 10 wins. So he could really be in trouble if we lose again to Alabama.

Sumlin is in trouble, IMO. He probably needs 8 or 9 regular season wins to keep his job.

Malzahn can go 6-6 and be safe for another year, IMO.

I agree. If Miles only gets 8 wins with this team, he's gone. You are an idiot if you think otherwise.

Miles - I think LSU fans are as insane as other fan bases make them out to be. I think it's less "wins" and rather "winning some hardware". Of course, if there's a slate of devastating injuries, no one is going to call for Les' head at that point. Still, expectations are pretty high. I'd say anything less than 10 will probably raise the ouster talk to loud volumes, unless it's the West beating itself up and 10 wins gets him to Atlanta.

Malzahn - Considering the attrition of offensive skill positions? It's hard to think Malzahn will foot the entire blame. Of course, he finally started to field a decent defense as the season wore on, so the offense - the thing he's supposed to be a mastermind at - failing is problematic. AU's recruiting track record leaves few excuses for being so thin at these positions, especially considering the selling point of Gus' innovative offenses. 8 wins and hot seat, 9+ and he should be good. 6 or less, time to polish the resume. Assuming AU can afford to have yet another coach earning a paycheck when not working for them.

Sumlin - The wild card of the bunch, IMHO. A&M seems to have trouble finding an identity. Sumlin is like Malzahn in that he's been selling the high-powered offenses, but this has fallen short due to failing to find the next Manziel. It may also be noted that Manziel benefited a metric ton from his WR corps - if A&M's WRs are as good as advertised, then the entirety of a failing Offense will fall on the QB again. The question will be if Sumlin knows how to identify a good QB. I'd say 8 wins. There's some decent expectations, yet tempered by recent years. Texas being on the down swing certainly helps.

Naw... It's pretty simple:

8 or less regular season wins... Miles is gone.

9 regular season wins... Firestorm of debate like last year, probably gone, but maybe not depending on having a replacement in the wings.

10+ regular season wins... Miles stays. Has there ever been a coach in NCAA history fired after 10 regular season wins?

Miles, and everyone involved with the program, knows that 2016 is a make-or-break year for his continued employment at LSU.

As a poster above mentioned, it really is more about hardware than wins, but considering 7-9 wins probably doesn't get you any hardware, and 10+ wins usually puts you in position for some hardware, the 2 are certainly related/correlating. If by some craziness we win the SEC with only 8 or 9 regular season wins, Miles will certainly not be fired.

Miles needs to win exactly one game to keep his job.

So remove Sumlin's name from the list, he's safe.

It was only a few years ago aggy AD was borrowing money from the academic side to stay in operation.

Yawn.

Your anti-Aggie bullshite was a lot more compelling back in 2012 before we started beating Arky's arse every year.

My opinion for Miles is he needs to be in the NY6 game. Doesn't matter if it is a playoff game or just one of the top bowl games.

Malzahn is in a tough spot. I think 8 and he is good but it will be tough and just got harder without his top RB. DLine should be good but not sure about the rest of the D.

Sumlin needs 8-10 I think. With the cash coming into their program, they want to be great. I'm not sure single digits get it done this year. Also depends on the coaching market. If they could upgrade, I think they will...
