Leaving Tennessee was a mistake on his part. He had that program headed in the right direction in 1 year. He played Alabama better than any coach all year and almost won the game except for a blocked kick!

Butch has passed him in win % (though that's not saying much since lane was only 7-6)

Tosh.O would be a better HC than Kiffin (we don't want the SOB to steal his brother from us).

Let this soak in - Kiffin was the most successful coach in terms of winning percentage since Fulmer left at UT. At USC, he inherited a program on probation hampered in recruiting and still never had a losing season at helped them to a 10-2 record in his second season. The guys not a bad coach. He's never had a losing season and can develop a QB. Does anybody remember how awful UT's QB was in 2008 and how much he improved in 2009?

This is all very encouraging in a potential hire.

What happened to him at USC? I've heard rumors he was hated and even hit by a player, just rumors I guess. But getting fired at the airport shows there was something he obviously could have handled better.

I will say this in an attempt to be objective though: people on the LSU board didn't want to touch orgeron with a 10 foot pole any time his name would come up throughout the years... "He's a drunk who rips his shirt off," "he hates LSU," "he's a recruiting violation waiting to happen."
^ all the way up until our Dline recruiting started struggling. Now he's the best hire ever and we love him

Not to mention we wanted to chase jimbo out of town with pitchforks back in 06 when Jamarcus Russell and two 1st round receivers could only manage 3 against Auburn and 10 or so against Florida....
Here we are in 2016 with Leonard fournette and playmakers galore scoring 7 against Wisconsin, wanting to chase our OC out of town... At least we think we have root of the problem figured out now.

At least one more
I wouldn't say he was a failure at Tennessee. He was recruiting lights out and had them in some games they had no business being in that year. It's fair to say he might have a learned a few things about program management since then as well.
I think some teams might hire a lot worse

I'm sure he'll get another HC gig given his success at Alabama, but God help the AD who hires him. He's already had a really good job (Tennessee) and a great job (USC) and both ended up being miserable failures.

If you recall, with the UT job, Pete Carroll was a step ahead of being investigated. He jumped to the pros first.

It is easy to imagine that Kiffin only took the UT job as a place holder until he could get back out west. Knoxville is nice, but its not LA. And UT is the not USC.

That is why Hamilton the UT AD showed his arse by hiring Kiffin - with a minuscule by out clause.

Poof -gone.

In a sense not really Kiffin's fault.

I'd hire him at UF after next year if Mac is gone. Of course we have to hire an AD first which Foley is hampering.

He was 7-6

FYI: Since we're going by short term stays, Jim Chaney is 100 percent as a HC at UT.
