I imagine this will be filled with posters telling us they DONT like college baseball.

It started badly with the OP used BB, which is basketball, to describe the far less popular college baseball

How many care about hoops outside of UK?

Even Fla could care less with their recent success.

I was speaking in a general sense. The TV ratings for last night reflect the national lack of interest. It was even the championship game, but reruns of Robot Chicken at midnight had better numbers.

I'm just not into the sport, I don't even really watch the MLB except for maybe the World Series.

It would probably rank 4th for the Vols fanbase behind Football, Mens BBall and Womens BBall.

Still would love to have a national title in a bigtime sport like that and would probably get into it if the Vols went on a run a la Vandy this year.

LSU used to care about the men, they still care bout the women. Lady Tigers have been to 5 Final Fours.

It'll never be popular. There's no star power, they eliminated high scoring games, and if you want to watch baseball, there's dozens of them on at any time between the MLB and the minors.

CFB is so successful because there's no competition. Saturday is that sport's day. The only alternative is NFL on Sunday (and one game on Monday)

I'm pretty sure Gator and Aggie fans care based upon some Gator and Aggie fans that I know personally.

Gator fans are sort of meh about it around here but the ones I know personally actually are big baseball fans.

Aggie fans probably do not get enough credit for being big baseball fans, but I'm pretty sure they are more than most realize.

Based upon my personal interaction with SEC fans, UK, Fla and Vandy care about college basketball. Other fan bases will care during a year their team is performing particularly well. Otherwise, not much interest. UGA fans generally DO NOT care about the sport.

GaTech fans used to care, but not so much today.

To be 100% honest, I love all three sports. Not going to say on the same level because you can't compare the three. I love them all on different levels.

Football because it's a week long ordeal, which makes it a season long ordeal outside of bye week. Also, SEC Saturday mornings in the Grove give me chill bumps all day. Football, though, is the easiest sport to be a fan of. One game a week, you don't really have to know much about strategy to cheer/hold a conversation.

Baseball because it's just a beautiful fricking sport. I love watching every pitch. Baseball is tough for some people to watch because they don't know the indepth strategy/situational plays. I enjoy guessing every pitch, guessing what count the runner is going to steal on, etc...

Basketball is the "crunkest." It's the sport that gets you the most fired up. Marshall is a big tool bag, but watching him hit a clutch three and get fired up, just sends chills down Rebel backs.

If I'm being completely honest, I have been more upset every time LSU has been eliminated in the NCAA baseball tournament or CWS than I was when LSU was knocked out of the final four in basketball. I've also been more upset over some baseball games than football games, true story. But, I'm probably different than most. When I was old enough to actually appreciate sports (around 1990ish), LSU baseball was awesome and LSU football in the dumps as well as baseball being the sport I played, not football.

Playing championship series on Mon, Tues and Wed tends to be a bad timing on ESPN. Would like to see it back on Sat.

agree completely. it's really hard for a lot of people to appreciate baseball's slow pace unless they played it growing up and/or grew up watching it a lot. i can see how the common fan can be disinterested.

I would add Vols and Hogs

Bama cares more than their success would suggest

What is sad is when a school is doing well and does not support the sport. Dawgs have enjoyed much non football success but you would not know it just looking at fans attending games.

Yeah. Baseball, unfortunately(yet, somewhat fortunate), will never be America's sport again. We live in a "maximum pleasure, minimum effort" age and it's a whole lot easier to yell "throw the ball" or "you have to make that tackle" than knowing it's a 2-0 count, tied game in the 9th with a runner on second, the 3-hole batter didn't swing at your two "close, but no cigar" pitches, so you walk him for the force.

again, agree completely. baseball will always be my favorite sport. I haven't followed MLB since Griffey retired. Never had a team in pro baseball because it's just too hard to closely follow both a professional team and LSU at the same time. I barely have enough time to keep up with LSU baseball the older I get and having more responsibilities. But, yeah, in today's society, where people don't have the patience for a sport like baseball, I don't see it ever being what it once was. It's a shame to me as it's probably the most mental game there is IMO. Crazy to me, though, is that an equally or more boring sport like golf is continually on the rise in popularity it seems, while baseball seems to lose popularity every year. Oddly enough, I love golf as well, but again, that is a sport I've played for 20 years and the only sport I play now at my age (29).

ETA: you made me think of my grandmother watching baseball games. She watched more baseball games than anyone I know. She and my grandfather went to just about everyLSU baseball game, home and away, for about 15 years, and she also watched about every Braves game on TBS, yet she still could never understand that how a player could swing at a breaking pitch or changeup out of the zone or that pitchers intentionally throw pitches out of the zone.
