Based upon my personal interaction with SEC fans, UK, Fla and Vandy care about college basketball.
Tennessee is among the top 5-10 in college basketball attendance every year and has been for 10 or more years now. You're also forgetting about Arkansas. They absolutely care about basketball and have for a long long time.

Aggie fans probably do not get enough credit for being big baseball fans, but I'm pretty sure they are more than most realize.
This is a very true statement. Baseball is a big deal in the state. Not nearly as much as football, football is more of a religion than a sport here (and im sure yall would say the same thing about your states) but still has a larger following than most realize. Problem is there are many "good" (using the term loosely) baseball programs in Texas so the in state Talent spreads out fairly thin, I personally enjoy baseball more than basketball as an Aggie (even when we had a decent basketball team).

again, agree completely. baseball will always be my favorite sport. I haven't followed MLB since Griffey retired. Never had a team in pro baseball because it's just too hard to closely follow both a professional team and LSU at the same time. I barely have enough time to keep up with LSU baseball the older I get and having more responsibilities. But, yeah, in today's society, where people don't have the patience for a sport like baseball, I don't see it ever being what it once was. It's a shame to me as it's probably the most mental game there is IMO. Crazy to me, though, is that an equally or more boring sport like golf is continually on the rise in popularity it seems, while baseball seems to lose popularity every year. Oddly enough, I love golf as well, but again, that is a sport I've played for 20 years and the only sport I play now at my age (29).
I think golf is having such an increase because of the boom in the fraternity scene. The old people have always watched golf, but it has taken a huge leap of interest in the college/frat scene, which has helped the PGA's imagine a lot(all some of those people wear are Master's attire...like everyday...but have never been )

i can be guilty of that, haha, but my girlfriend bought me a hat and pullover when she went a couple years ago with her uncle. i guess i don't feel as douchey as others wearing it because i actually play golf a lot and have for most of my life. it's not my fault i'm not fortunate to have tickets, know someone who does and will give me one, or win the lottery any of the past 7-8 years i've entered. i swear i don't personally know anyone that has won that lottery, for either the practice rounds or actual rounds. i'm almost convinced that lottery doesn't actually produce winners

Florida cares
as big a school as they are and as successful as they've been going back to the 90s, i think their support is very lacking. they couldn't even sell out any game in a pretty modestly sized stadium in the supers against mississippi state a few years ago. florida fans are also not known as big travelers for road games in any sport compared to a lot of other schools in this conference.

In 2012, my brother-in-law(or his buddy, which makes this next part okay) won 2 practice round tickets through the lottery and they went. The next year, Ole Miss Athletic Association had some planned and we received three of those. We went Thursday and Friday. Prettiest grass you'll ever see.

i'm definitely jealous. being a broke college student and then a broke grad student made it difficult to shell out the cash necessary to buy tickets through a secondary source. living in atlanta and finally done with law school, definitely going to have to go in the near future, regardless of how much damage it does to the bank account. did get to go to the tour championship 2 years ago at east lake and with club house passes for a grand total of $50

Our school has minimal support for basketball. The way the best players immediately jump to the NBA after showing promise as Freshmen tends to diminish the sport IMHO. Also, the elaborate tournament makes the regular season much less important than in football. Having just 5 players on the court makes for a much smaller team and means recruiting is even more important. The pace of the game and the lack of distinct plays makes the game much harder to follow for fans compared to football. Football is just a better sport in my view.

How many care about hoops outside of UK?
Even Fla could care less with their recent success.
If we were talking about basketball this is absolutely not even close to true.
As for baseball, it does not have huge amount of support. They do ok, I think top 15 attendance, but compared to the rest of the conference it has never had that kind of level.

eh, i think it makes it less important. you can have just 2-3 good players and be a tournament team in basketball. in football, you need depth and great players all over the field to be good. i used to feel the opposite, but after having a pro team in my city and following the nba for awhile now, it's much much superior to college basketball in every way. it really makes the college game almost unwatchable for me outside the tournament

I would say all of them. Hasn't most every team reached at least a Regional in the post-season within the last several years?
At least 10 SEC programs have made it to Omaha,
7 of those within the last 5 years.
