What a bunch of Sperry wearin moptops in this thread.... I have never been to a race, but I do occasionally watch. The best thing about NASCAR is that the season starts about a month after football ends.

I'm betting there are a lot of golf watchers in this thread.

frick NASCAR. I think I have one friend from high school that watches it. Other than that, I don't really know anybody that does.

I'm not even against watching racing. I used to watch sprint car racing in Dallas that was about 25 laps. shite was entertaining as hell, and I got to see cara crashing all over the place.

I hate NASCAR, all baseball, NBA, and NFL, tennis, and golf.

I love College football, college basketball, NHL, and soccer, but not in that order.

I think the myth about the South/Southeast being "Nascar country" is one of the most ridiculous myths out of the many ridiculous myths people have about the South. Of the dozens of friends and acqauintances I've known you could literally count the ones that gave a s### at all about Nascar on 1 hand. I think people who grew up near Talladega, Atlanta, Charlotte, Daytona, etc are more likely to have been to a race because its nearby and it is a pretty impressive spectacle in person. Having said that, even many of these people could care less. I always have to laugh at how clueless non Southerners are when they try to overstated the popularity of Nascar in the South as if most of us plan our schedule around races.

I've become a die hard PGA golf fan because there are a few players on tour that I use to play junior golf with.

In my experience, asking a fan if they like NASCAR is a good way to tell if they graduated from their favorite school. Not 100% accurate, but pretty close.

I go to the races when my boss gives me his tickets. Have you seen some of the women there? It's like a miniature Mardi Gras when the girls get excited.

So based on the responses, it appears that diehard CFB fans don't have much crossover with diehard NASCAR fans.

Makes you wonder if actual NASCAR fans exist; no one here seems to know any, and most of these responses are from people who live anywhere between Texas and Florida

Maybe not on this board. I'm sure a lot of SEC fans love NASCAR.

I am positive that outside of Alabama, in the south, the majority of sports fans don't give a flying phuck about Nascar.

The few people I know that watch it are terrible people. Just terrible. I avoided watching the State game at a friend's last week because one of them was gonna be there.

I've been to Talladega. The race itself is retarded, but if you like people watching you'll love it.

It's not as good as it used to be, but I still like it and will watch if there's not a good football game on.

Late to this party, but I love NASCAR. Been following it for years. Root for the #24 and the #48.

And Texas Motor Speedway is pretty cool if you've never been.

Outside of Alabama you say? Now that is really a low blow coming from Mississipi (spelled correctly).

Well I'm from Alabama and grew up in the state and of the dozens of people I know literally 3 or 4 of them were really into Nascar and that's it. Even those guys don't really care about it anymore so that's a pretty absurd statement to make.

EDIT: The big thing I noticed the time I went to a Talladega race was how many out of state plates there were. Literally two thirds of the crowd was from out of state. There was also a large # of Midwesterners there too.
