I wouldn't give up a recent title for a win in the 2010 Iron Bowl. It sucked to watch Auburn win the title, but their win was surrounded by allegations of cheating and by two Alabama championships the year before and after. I can't think of a less painful way to watch a rival win.

However, I might be willing to trade our tenuous claim to the 1941 title. Best I can do.

Auburn's 2010 title is about as dubious as Bama's 41 title

I remember asking Auburn fans in 2010 if the title run would be worth having a team with a losing record for the next 5 years. Most said yes.

Auburn is about to achieve another feat in 2 yrs, something else they hadn't done since the 1950's.

This last loss, will be the only time besides 1950 that Auburn has lost over 8 games in a season. They were a cool 0-10 that year. This team will stand second only to them in suckage.

I don't know about that...our 1941 team went 8-2, finished 3rd in the SEC, and finished 20th in the AP.

I'm pretty convinced that the athletic department meant to claim 1945 instead of 1941. The 1941 and 1945 teams were selected by one poll each, but the 1945 team went 10-0, won the SEC, won the Rose Bowl, and finished #3 in the AP, which is way better than what the 1941 team did. The claim to 1945 still isn't much better though...we won one poll while Army won every single other one.

Here's what I think happened:
Some dude in the athletic department was told to go through Alabama football history and figure out which of the older titles should be considered legitimate. He looked at the 1945 team, decided that one was worth claiming, then tried to use the fact that 1945 was the last year of WWII as a way to remember the date.
Later, possibly when he was really drunk, he got confused and accidentally wrote 1941, the year America entered the war, instead of 1945, the year the war ended. By the time he realized his drunken mistake, the 1941 championship was listed in programs and media guides, printed on t-shirts, and represented with a flag over Bryant-Denny Stadium. So instead of trying to change it, he just kept his mouth shut and hoped no one would notice.

This explanation seems incredibly unlikely, but it's more realistic than someone looking at the 1941 season and thinking that it was a championship year.

Once again, you overestimate your significance, my agricultural friend.

All we lost in 2010 was a chance to win the SEC and torment you for coming so close. While we enjoy kicking the neighborhood dog, we aren't willing to trade one of our trophies just to lower your self esteem.

Some of them really believe Bama fans spend an hour every evening staring sadly into the sunset, with a single tear rolling down the cheek, wondering what could have been.

Yeah. It sucked. All losses suck. We'd already had two at that point. Anybody who would trade a title for it has their priorities thoroughly out of order.

why would we want to trade a natty for one game that really doesnt change the outcome of the 2010 season for us? At this point it doesnt matter that Auburn won it in '10... i guess it just means that you'll have to wait another half century to win another

Bottom line this Auburn team isn't going to be remembered. That championship stank to high hell of corruption, and it is being proven out that it was a fluke.

It'll probably be about like the Colorado/Georgia Tech national championships. Yeah, it's in the record books, but nobody really gives a shite.

Myself I really do like bookending yalls championship season. I personal think you would trade that iron bowl win to wipe out one of the bookends.
