As a head coach he has an sec championship. Congrats on beating mizzou

Not to hijack the troll thread but Mizzou was the best team in the east. Kentucky is in the east right?

8-5 to 3-9 =/= 8-5 to 7-6.

I think what Gus' biggest problem has been, besides not finding right qb, is his management of the staff. He has made some very questionable hires.
I would agree on all accounts.

Hiring Kevin Steele, hiring Kodi Burns, retaining Rhett Lashlee and letting Dameyune Craig walk (after letting him have next to no input on the gameplan) were all highly questionable in my mind.

I haven't figured out whether or not Gus Malzahn can "groom" a quarterback or not. We saw what he did with Chris Todd, Cam Newton and Nick Marshall, but we've also seen what he did with Barrett Trotter, Clint Moseley, Kiehl Frazier, Jeremy Johnson and Sean White. Obviously some were incredibly talented while others flat out sucked, but I still don't know.

A 40 game series is definitely enough to tell which team is the other's daddy

And Auburn is 13-2 against them post 1955. If we're gonna use football before integration and the forward pass as a measuring stick then Princeton and Yale >>>>>>> Bama. Good luck catching up to them by the end of this century.

So many aubie arguments are based off of, "well those games happened in ______, and I don't care about those"

You don't get to count your record as a coordinator as HC accomplishments. Ask Will Muschamp about that.

Gus has ZERO nattys as a HC, and one SEC title followed up by two pathetic seasons. He will be an OC at a small school this time next year.

It's relative I guess. 8-5 at Vandy is a great season...but for a team that won a natty a few years ago and consistently has top 10 recruiting classes to lose FIVE games in one season? And then SIX the next season? He is 6-10 in the SEC the last two seasons. That's good in your mind? Even mediocre for a program like Auburn?

How many of their wins vs us came after the Korean War? 2

Not our fault that pre-expansion and divisions we rarely played them and played real SEC teams annually like Florida, Tennessee, and UGA while Bama padded the stats annually against juggernauts like Vandy and the Mississippi twins tweedle Dee and tweedle dumb

Since some of your fellow Auburnites seem to think relevant history only started in 2009, I can see why chronology might be a problem for you. It's not our fault Auburn was slow on the uptake. Blame bad genetics or poor parenting or something.

Auburn fans are the ONLY fans I've seen that give their head coach full credit for what he did as an assistant. It's the only way they can justify why he kept his job this year. Also because they fired two other coaches who probably deserved at least on more year in Tubbs and Chizik.

Shouldn't that have been 12-2 to 8-5 to 7-6? A lot of people want to say Miles won his Natty with Saban's players. Couldn't the same be said about Malzahn winning with Chiziks? Every year Malzahn has been at Auburn his record has gotten worse. With your schedule this year the trend could continue. You lost an excellent DC and replaced hm with a questionable one. Your coaching staff has gotten worse since last year, not better. While, according to the OP, UGA has picked up a coach with 4 national Championships.

8-5 and 7-6 is pretty pathetic considering every team has about 3 rent-a-wins on their schedule every year.

Conference record is far more indicative of where your program actually is.

Yes. Seems first string defense is good.
Everyone else looks like week one of practice.

But it's the Spring...
