You either didn't think this thread through thoroughly or you just checked common sense at the door.....not sure which.

Gus entered the SEC in 2006.

Nope. Gus has only 1 SEC championship, Chizik has 1 SEC Championship & 1 BCS Natty.

In fact, Gene Chizik's (30-10) record for his 1st 3 years at Auburn is better than Malzahn's (27-13).

Gus is wonderful and Auburn should give him a lifetime contract.

By your logic and math, Kirby Smart, who has never coached a game as HC, has more NCs than Gus has championships of any kind.

That's not the bad part. The bad part is that Dan Mullen has Gus beat in overall titles too.

He's also not as good as Terry Bowden, who won his first 20 games as HC at Auburn.

Its not just we hooked them... but it was big shiny hook.

How could any Auburn fan with an IQ above room temperature bite on this? Yet they still did.

Where is the challenge, the battle of intellects between two rivals? Sigh. Its damn depressing.

Still, could be worse. I can only imagine how mortified the handful of good Auburn posters on here feel. Represent bros, represent. No shame in being the second or third best program in your state!

You can't "LOL" Vandy when they lead the all-time series vs AU

How many of their wins vs us came after the Korean War? 2

Not our fault that pre-expansion and divisions we rarely played them and played real SEC teams annually like Florida, Tennessee, and UGA while Bama padded the stats annually against juggernauts like Vandy and the Mississippi twins tweedle Dee and tweedle dumb

Are we acting like Gus Malzahn wasn't the driving force behind that 2010 National Championship now? I always read that Gene Chizik was simply a puppet and that Gus Malzahn should've been the head coach anyways back then. Has that changed?

Not from me. Sure natty's are won by the whole team/coaches; but the coordinators do not count them. That's for the head coaches. Sorrrrry AU fans. Gus has only won 1 SEC champ game and lost the only national champ game on his watch.

A 40 game series is definitely enough to tell which team is the other's daddy. And the whole "we've played better teams" is a stupid argument considering bama has a big lead in every SEC series. Or at least against all pre 2012 expansion teams

Maybe not, but by the vast majority of this board, yes. I mean, it sure as hell wasn't that defense that won games behind the defensive mastermind Gene Chizik (for some reason his defenses were always great when he wasn't head coach). And then, bam, Gus Malzahn leaves and Auburn goes 3-9 under Gene Chizik.

Then, Gus Malzahn comes back to Auburn in 2013, and they somehow end up back in the National Championship Game behind another high-powered offense.

Gene Chizik can take credit for it, but everyone here knows the real (main) driving forces behind it. Gus Malzahn, Cam Newton, Nick Fairley, Mike Dyer and some seniors left over from Tommy Tuberville's tenure.

I believe you are vastly under-rating the management side of being a HC. I am one that believed Gus was the driving force behind the NC beside Cam of course. I think what Gus' biggest problem has been, besides not finding right qb, is his management of the staff. He has made some very questionable hires.
