It stinks for our teams when it comes to these conversations, but in reality I would imagine that if we could see an AD's profit/loss report an IPF would be the most draining and expensive endeavour in which he could get into. UT athletic department is hemorrhaging money at an alarming rate, but hey! At least they have an IPF.

The couch and the office have a nice view to see the workouts from a distance and not be intruding when he cannot do so according to NCAA guidelines.
I believe Saban's office has windows that allow you to see the practice field as well.

I'm not familiar with all the NCAA rules. What is this rule?

Head coaches and assistant coaches for football are not allowed contact during the offseason, with exception to Spring workouts. Only Strength and Conditioning staff have daily interaction with team members during this period.

How does UGA use their indoor practice facility?

They use it for walk throughs, Tuesday media day, and hosting recruits/families. It’s suppose to mimic a field for visitors. They’ve never practiced, so technically UGA doesn’t have an indoor practice field. The main reason is there is no room to build. I guess they could demolish the elementary school across from Butts-Mehre.

If anyone is ever in Athens, by all means take a tour of BM. One of the top football facilities in the country (including Mark Richts excellent view).

ETA: speaking of Tuesday media days, if you enter in the side entrance, you can eat lunch for free. I sat at the table with Buck Belue and Vince every Tuesday. Give it a shot, it’s great food and free UGA stuff.

ITT: We get pooped on and justifiably so. Really no reason not to have one, other than space.

Really no reason to spend millions of dollars on it when it is not really a necessity. From an AD's perspective it doesn't really make sense in Athens right now. Getting pooped on by fans of other teams on message boards is inconsequential when McGarity's athletic department is printing it's own money year after year.

What is this?
Is basketball so boring at UGA, they made their court to look like a mini-sized football field?

Maybe it hasn't been yet, but a rough year for thunderstorms and it could kill any on the field practice time. That's a detrimental blow to the chance of success.

Understand your point and it is valid. However, listed below is the 30 year average rainfall per month for Athens, Ga. from August-December (months of college football season)

August-3.52 inches
September-3.94 inches
October- 3.55 inches
November- 3.82 inches
December- 3.73 inches

Odds say that rainfall would not be an overwhelming reason to spend millions of dollars for limited use.

Football is an outside sport. It rains outdoors. Practicing in the rain seems smert.

Or in certain cases-prudent planning.

I wish I could post the UF at FSU game from about 4 years ago. Total monsoon. I think we practiced in the rain all week.

Apparently they use it to train to win 10+ games a year. It seems to be working well for them.
