but it seems like the school has really ratcheted back the football program..

Was that Donna Sha-laylay?

MiamiU needs to build an on campus 60k seat stadium for starters. And lower entrance standards to equal FSU and UF.

I'd be surprised if they got any "named" or up-n-coming coach to go there.

Name coach....hell they would have to pay him in IOUs. They do NOT have money in the till...no Nevin Shapiros with 50,000 checks. Their president is a sleazeball...the whole school is. They invented cheating many years ago.

My only problem is the loud mouth thugs sprouting off about "the U" when they probably havent sent a check to their school in many years..if ever. To me...its put up or shutup. UF has guys like Errict Rhett, Emmitt Smith, Kevin Carter and many many others who invest in their school..especially Emmitt. The Cane thugs need to help their school hire someone by kicking in some loot.

25,000 attendance in a off campus stadium isnt going to draw many big names....even if they had more money. They should have disbanded football in the early 1970s when there were serious discussions about doing so because of $$.

South Carolina is a better job than Miami

As far as fan support goes...without a doubt. It's harder to win conference championships at South Carolina though and recruiting is harder due to the geographical location. South Carolina has a MUCH better game atmosphere, respectable fans and some nice living areas.

Yale and Princeton programs just don't offer anybody that's a five star you also have to have some smarts.

That's what he was claiming was the big draw for Miami ... that they are an academic institution with championships under their belt.

That's why I shot him down with the Yale and Princeton thing.

Listen, there are only so many great players who can qualify for the big academic schools and each conference has one.

SEC - Vandy
ACC - Duke
B1G - Northwestern
PAC 12 - Stanford
Big 12 - I dunno?

Those four programs draw the best players who can score better than 1500 on their ACT and tout 3.5 GPAs or better.

If you are a four or five star player and you want to major in Marine Biology and you've got the scores ... yeah, go to Miami.

The pic of her with the 50,000 check from Shapiro and him in the pic with athletic dept types is a classic...Donna ran to the fricking bank and cash that baby before the ink dried on it

And wasn't she quick to distance the university (and herself) from football afterwards?

Supposidely, at least Miami claims, that they gave it back ... refunded the money, was Shapiro was convicted.

He gave more than $3 million to the school, not counting the million or so he doled-out to players and their families.

He can start immediately.

I would take USCe, but I'm a SEC homer.

Also I lived in Southern California for 3 years. It's fun, but taxes are nuts.

Shouldnt affect it at all. Miami isn't a top tier job anymore and shouldn't tempt anyone who USCe would be considering.

Players want to play at a historical strong school with a semi ivy league reputation.

The main reason players want to go to "The U" is not for the academics.

you are clueless.

In the state of Florida the universities are ranked thusly:

1. UF
2. USF
3. UCF
4. MIAMI
5. FSU
6. OTHERS

Miami is private, it's not selective.
