Not in the least.

SCAR is a better job, better fans, better conference.

We'll probably pay more money by far.

Far better facilities.

Miami is a has-been program is a shitty football conference with piss poor fan support and a bad reputation.

Yet Miami has a stronger history than Scar. Miami is also an academic powerhouse ranked 51 on Usnews world reports compared to Scar's 108th ranking. The academic and history will attract many coaches to Miami. Players want to play at a historical strong school with a semi ivy league reputation.

wut

Yale and Princeton have stronger (football championship) histories than anyone else in the country ... and are far more prestigious academically than any of the Big 5 members.

Now, show me the "players" lining up to play for Yale and Princeton ... before I post a "historically strong" comment about your mother.

It depends on the coach whether SC or Miami is a better gig.

Some coach may take recruiting a 30 mile radius and living in S FL over being in the SEC at a lower tier program and living in SC.

SCAR has had a much better decade than Miami. A lot has changed since 2001.

My rankings of the "open" jobs:

1. USCw
2. USCe

3. Miami

Anybody else resign, rehab, fired, etc, yet?

Miami has no administration support, or fan support.
They have a cult of felons from the 80s and 90s that think they should have a say in what coaches do -- and think for some reason they are nationally relevant.

Their only national relevance is in terms of arrests and lols.

It's a terrible job in a bad conference. I'd be surprised if they got any "named" or up-n-coming coach to go there.

That is a decent point, one which we all thought about I'm sure.

My personal thought on the 100 mile radius of Miami thing was this.

Most of them do not qualify to play at Miami these days. Miami is under much scrutiny ... something Golden said himself and could not overcome.

Everyone and their brother recruits south Florida talent to their schools. Clemson has signed more south Florida 5* players outta the greater Miami area than has Miami in recent years ... there is/are reasons for that.

Florida and FSU are both more attractive jobs in the state of Florida ... neither have the academic limitations.

Miami wants to be a basketball school.

For every bit of their so-called good history at Miami, with regards to football (championships) ... it is all tainted by their Thug U rep.

Kids these days don't remember anything earlier than when they were 12 years old.

How long has it been since Miami was a powerhouse?

A football coach these days would be nuts to take that job. It's a thankless job and these are not the 80s or 90s. Fan support still blows. They have to drive 45 minutes from campus to get to their stadium. Wicked crime around that city, etc., etc., etc.

If it comes down to Miami or SCAR for a good coach with one bit of common sense, he's going to choose SCAR and the SEC and our fanbase over Miami.

Miami has the better tradition but it seems like the school has really ratcheted back the football program... And for good reason.

Thank you.

You forgot Maryland (B1G) and their Under Armour backing.

... and yes, you're gonna have WVA (B12) and Va Tech (ACC) probably. Maybe Texas but I seriously doubt it.

They ate going to get rejected by a few and settle with Mario.

It's funny because they think Butch Davis will take the job
