This is not true at all in the SEC, pretty much any team can beat any team on a given Saturday (but you won't hear this from most fans). That's what's so great about this conference, it's rich with talent, pride, and bad arse football players. Look no further than LSU getting beat by Kentucky in 2007 and still winning a BCS championship, gotta keep your head on a swivel in this league or someone will sneak up on you. That doesn't mean you get respect though like what you're asking for, go win a conference title and you'll get that. For a year or two anyway...

realize that the crap posted on this board is only a very small sampling of fans who rep SEC teams - and they're all in competition with one another to see who can be the wittiest/funniest jerk.

As others have pointed out, the road to respect is paved with wins and time. Think of the SEC as a group of hot chicks and a few ugly friends to run interference. We have to win over the designated cockblocks before we reach the promised land.

You guys have a recent history of: a) playing 2 qtrs of football, b) not competing for conference nor division titles in the Lil XII.
Try winning consistently IN Conference for a couple of years. Consistency is the key. Not a one or two year wonder like Arkansas. Show up year in and year out. You guys haven't played an entire season in a decade or so.

it will take a while. we are a very weird fan base that really is like a cult. being the new guy and making threads like this dont help either. we just have to keep our heads down and win our games. thats the only way

Although I have money on TAM going over .500 in SEC play (that I made before schedule was released)...
At this point, TAM has a respectable defense and the highest stat offense in the SEC West. Everyone else in the West has played puffs too, so no one can say anything about that... and no one is really SEC West long haul + road tested yet. TAM has a VERY potentially rewarding schedule. A 9-3 season at this point is actually kind of expected. Overachieve and knock off LSU at home and this site's head would explode.

Stop asking for respect first and earn it, I give teams respect when they go into the swamp in seasons like 06, and 08 , Tuscaloosa in 09 and 11, and Baton Rouge in 03 and 07, and Auburn in 10. I remember Florida fighting their guts out in Baton Rouge in 07, and LSU in tuscaloosa in 09, and Alabama in auburn in 2009. These are games you live for, beating Arkansas the way you did with the state their program is in now doesn't do it, Come in to tuscaloosa win or lose and fight and scrap, go to Baton Rouge at night, and play your best. Go toe to toe with Florida in the swamp. You will get your respect, but remember as long as your acting like Rodney Dangerfeild and asking for respect you will never receive it.

Winning is the answer but it is also way to simple. I think winning some surprise games where A&M is not favored. A&M has to sneak up on some other teams in the conference. A&M has to be the "Creeper," of the SEC. You guys will get there after you get 2-3 good recruiting classes...

There will be no respect for a while. Listen to the Ole Miss fans for a clue. We suck, will continue to suck, and cannot compete with even perennial bottom feeders in the SEC.
