As long as LSU doesnt suck it up and lose 3-4 games before 11/23/13... I would say the LSU/A&M game will get more hype than this one is getting/will get. Just because of history and the fact is the so late in the season, with possible BCS implications on the line (more likely true for A&M).

True. LSU is looking like a vulnerable team, right now.

Big shock that all non-Texas A&M fans think "It's not even close!"

Looks like the consensus here amongst all fans is that the 2011 game was bigger. Everyone agrees that this one will be more entertaining, though. Don't take it personally.

I travel a lot nationally with my job, and love talking college football. The 2011 LSU-Bama game was much more talked about. Part of it was the national hate for the SEC that was on display there. As mentioned before, the November-September difference is the biggest deal.

Everyone knew the winner in 2011 was NC bound.
The winner of A&M-Bama still has to face LSU and an SEC East opponent that may be closer to this year's West winner than was the case in 2011.

You are still trying to compare the quality of the game to the quality of the hype, they are 2 different things. I also agree to LSU and Bama fans the other game was bigger. The LSU/Bama game winner was almost certainly going to the NC (and of course it turned out both did). Nationally though a lot of folks had SEC fatigue though and the storyline just wasn't as sexy.

A lot of this one is Bama is seen as this mighty invincible force and the only one that has conquered them is JFF. Then you have the media orgasm over JFF all offseason. It's just a lot more intriguing to someone who isn't in the SEC and may not even be as big of a football fan. It's kind of like how you could have a Heavyweight fight between the 2 best Fighters and its a big deal but it may not get the same interest as the Mike Tyson comeback fight with Lennox Lewis.

We will see what the ratings turn out to be.

11/5/11 was the most hyped college football game I've ever seen.

Don't think I am. I think this years game will be more entertaining. In my experience, they hype around 2011 was higher. Maybe not in Texas, but that is understandable. I am going based on what I experienced in non-acting party states (North East and South East mostly).
It also has to do that the national consensus in 2011 was that these were the 2 best teams by a country mile. No one is saying that this year.

meh. ratings =/= hype. Hell for all of the hype that Sharknado got, its ratings were average for the Syfy channel (yeah, I went there).

2011 GOTC takes this one on both fronts. Those 2 defenses were just sick.

Where were you living in 2011? Japan? lol Every national sports commentator and show was absolutely licking his chops for that matchup in 2011 -- I'm surprised at how quiet this week has been so far actually.

No real iconic players

The game had 2 heisman contenders in Richardson and Mathieu. Not to mention all the first round picks that were playing in that game.

It's a shame that 2011 game isn't remembered a whole lot. What a battle!

Just talked to a buddy of mine. All flights from B'ham, Huntsville, Montgomery and Mobile are full. Best bet to drive to Atlanta but may have to go to Austin or San Antonio instead of Houston via the ATL and drive. We have 6,000 tix but they are expecting 20,000 Bama fans without tix. Not the 30,000 that went to the UCLA game in 2000 but still a very respectable number for a game a long way from home.

The hype is much greater since Texas and Johnny Football are involved.
