Bama missed 4 FGs and Saban refused to let McCarron take any chances.
Bama played it way too safe. They were aggressive in the title game and smoked LSU.

It wasn't "great defense" as much as too staff's with puckered asses afraid they would make the first mistake and give the game away.
Was this intentional for some reason?

Bama out gained LSU something like 380 yards to 90. LSU had more possessions than they did first downs. I'm not sure LSU ever crossed midfield.

Technically, once. Alabama then promptly shoved them backwards, recovering a fumble on the 50 (so LSU never finished a drive past the 50).
