No SEC school comes close to the University of North Carolina's 20+ years of bogus classes for athletes. They're in a class unto themselves.

Well if you cut out the state of Alabama and the landmass next to it, it's pretty clean.

Why just say the Mississippi territories.

That is what is was originally called...

Just saying...

Everybody cheats is such a bunch of bull shite.

I don't see paying recruits as being cheating. Yeah it is very bad, but at the end of the day what matters is what happens on the field. Now if a team had 25 of the top 25 players in the country, years in a row then yeah that type of cheating can affect everyone. But signing a guy or two like Tunsil isn't going to make or break a program.

As compared to the PAC 10? Big 10?, ACC? Big 12 minus 2? Maybe the better question is, who is the least crooked?

I mean you could compare them to BYU which is squeaky clean

Is the Ole Miss scene the norm conference wide? I think our national perception was already pretty bad. I also hope that the rebel mess is just being exaggerated. What do you think?

Exaggerated in what way? They are paying their players. That's not an exaggeration.

The thing that pisses me off about all of this is that 90% of the accusations you hear on the rant and other message boards are pure speculation. Speculation on OM's guilt and speculation of our innocence. We will know in a month or two what evidence there really is.

If there is evidence of rampant cheating, we should be punished accordingly. If there isn't much evidence then we should pay for what has happened. If there is nothing of substance found, we should get off the hook.

I get that it's fun to rag on the rebels for cheating and of course the Tunsil fiasco. But the fact of the matter is that Ole Miss has been targeted because the story sticks and is reminiscent of SMU.

Who knows. I think it's probably a 50/50 chance we did something that warrants real punishment but we won't know until we know. Everybody breaks the rules and if you believe otherwise, you might want to pull your head out of your a$$

This decade, the SEC learned it leason after Alabama cheating was discovered in 2010. (Note Auburn's last major infraction was 1993). LINK

Major Infraction Cases:

2010 Alabama (3 years probation, plus lots of other penalties for cheating) public reprimand and censure; three years of probation; vacation of records for all wins in which any of the seven involved football student-athletes competed while ineligible during the 2005-06 and 2007-08 academic years. Further in the sports of men's tennis, men's track and women's track the records of the 15 involved student-athletes shall be vacated and team point totals shall be reconfigured accordingly; the institution shall pay a fine of $43,900; annual compliance reporting required.

2011 LSU (1 year probation) Violations involved impermissible transportation and lodging as well as excessive phone calls by members of the athletics administration to a prospective student-athlete. A former football assistant coach was found for unethical conduct for his role in the commission of violations and his subsequent obstruction of the investigation.

2012 USCe (3 years probation) student-athletes living in a local hotel at what proved to be a discounted rate; and (2) the impermissible involvement of two representatives of the institution's athletics interests in the institution's football and men's basketball recruiting efforts and the provision of extra benefits by the two athletics representatives.

2012 Tennessee (2 years probation)e current violations involve the actions of a former
assistant football coach ("former assistant coach") in June and July 2009. The former assistant coach agreed to reimburse a representative of the institution's athletics interests ("representative") for roundtrip airline tickets purchased by the representative for a prospective football student-athlete ("prospect") and his mother ("prospect's mother") to travel to Tennessee for an unofficial visit.

2013 MSU (2 years probation) This case involved the provision of recruiting inducements, including cash, clothing and vehicle discounts, by a representative of the institution's athletics interests.

2015 Florida (no probation, accepted self imposed sanctions) - A former University of Florida assistant football coach visited a prospect off-campus before NCAA rules allow for recruiting contact, according to a decision issued by a Division I Committee on Infractions panel.
