Watching the construction of TS with concrete and then looking at these pics of A&M's stadium construction - A&M's looks really fragile. Will it be safe?

Speaking of jumbotrons. A&M has framed the 47x163 (I think) beast. Biggest in the SEC if I'm not mistaken.

The one at ATM will be the biggest college board in the country (over 700 sq ft bigger than Texas'). In order of largest to smallest for 2014 Team, year installed and size listed in sq ft:

1. aTm (2014) - 7,661
2. Arky (2012) - 6,286
3. MSU (2008) - 5,217
4. UT (2008) - 4,588
5. USCe (2012) - 4,464
6. UF (2009) - 4,110
7. Vandy (2012) - 3,600
8. Ole Miss (2008) - 3,129
9. UK (2011) - 2,960
10. UGA (2011) - 2,628
11. MIZZOU (2009) - 2,440
12. LSU (2009) - 2,160
13. Auburn (2007) - 2,024
14. Bama (2010) - 1,060

LSU only uses half their board too. The other half has ads. Honestly LSU has never cared about the jumbotron arms race, and i'm sort of glad. MSU's looks so silly in a completely empty endzone.

Yea I'm not too thrilled about the giant intrusive jumbotron. I think it will take away from what makes Kyle Field (and college football in general) so great - the game day atmosphere

Dont get me wrong i like highlights but do we really need a video board that you can see from space. Half the crowd ends up watching it like zombies instead of the actual field.

Especially when the inevitable ad-invasion happens during TV timeouts when the crowd should be focused on cheering/etc instead of watching a State Farm ad. Completely takes the crowd out of the game.

Jason Cook has said that the new Kyle Field screens aren't going to be there to dominate/monopolize the gameday atmosphere like 12th Man TV did. Hopefully he follows through on that.

I'll believe it when I see it. Money will always win out.

I hate the big jumbotron. It takes the crowd out of the game...after a big play, they stop to watch the replay instead of cranking up the noise.

I guess you considered Yankee Stadium unsafe? Steel frame construction that lasted 85 years. The 49ers are using steel in an earthquake zone. I'm not a construction guy, so I can't tell you why they go back and forth between concrete and steel, but we are definitely moving from an era where most stadiums were all concrete back to an era where there is a mix of concrete and steel.

More than anything I hope this is true, but I'm skeptical. We need to maximize our home field advantage and we currently muzzle the 12th Man. It's obnoxious.

honest question. does a&m have a plan on removing all of the construction equipment from the field? I only ask because of past experiences with aggies.

Those jokes aren't as funny when Aggies are better educated and much more successful than swamp kittens.

You have to think about it from a broad perspective. People who sit in the upperdecks can hardly see the game. The Jumbotron is awesome and the one we are currently building to match it is going to be badass.

Is LSU gonna paint the new expansion side to match the old side? Just drove by Tiger Stadium and they look like two different shades.
