LOL...Cougar High....

What a lame arse conference: Texas, OU and the rest of the dwarfs in the shittiest, most boring markets outside of DFW and Houston.

Can't wait to read the Shaggy thread on this one.

Texas supporting Houston is a surprise. I've talked to many a Texas fan who says there is no way Coog High is deserving of being close to the same conference as mighty UT. But, history might be repeating itself. For years UT kept Houston out of the SWC. In fact, Houston almost was allowed to join the SEC in the 60's. They were sponsored by Ole Miss. Go back and look at some UH schedules from the late 50's and 60's. They played 4 or so SEC teams a year. Anyway, finally in 1975 UT caved and UH got in the SWC. Is it happening again?

And when they were finally admitted to the SWC, UH won 3 conference titles their first 4 years.

And promptly got busted for having a slush fund and again and again and again.

Yoeman had a drawer that they used as an ATM machine, before there was something called ATM's.

It was the good ole days. Everybody did it. Aggys dealt cars. SMU dealt cash and hookers (Craig james promptly killed their allotment of hookers). #CJK5H

New Mexico is the obvious choice if they expand. Untapped metro market, not contending for titles so wont upset the cart, good facilities, and bridges them into PAC 12 country.

New Mexico is a god-awful market

What value does Houston bring to the conference? No real history. No new TV market. No name recognition. It makes no sense. If it happens, it's only b/c Texas wants it to and I'd be plotting my exit strategy if I were Oklahoma.

Why not? After Ole Miss gets hammered, this will be the premier program of the area.

These are all shitty picks, but Memphis at least starts to bridge the gap to West Virginia and invades the SEC footprint.

So since the

supports the conference considering UH, it's all but a done deal?

Knowing Big XII politics, probably so. Texas, up to this point, has been an implacable foe of expansion. For them to come out and support an expansion candidate pretty much tells you that the price of them supporting expansion is going to be taking their preferred candidate. I'd say this is also a good indication that they are going to take four new teams--if they do, they can take three teams to make a 7-team northern division (KU, KSU, ISU, WVU, + 3) and add UH to the other six (OU, OSU, Tech, TCU, Baylor, Texas) to make a southern division.

Or they could just be saying this for political reasons. They know that the out of state schools won't vote for UH, and they want to try to show that they did everything they could to get them included...

The weenies in N.O. actually think they have a chance...with their 35,000 stadium....because of their high level academics. On a good day, they mite have 20,000 in the stands, and half are the vistor's fans.

He was talking about the University of Texas President, not the state's governor, Grandpa.

Texas is scared of losing City of Houston completely to the SEC. SEC has been dominant in TV ratings since A&M's move.

Aggy hasn't received the propaganda memo yet, I see.

TV ratings show SEC, Big 12 in close race to claim dominance in Houston

It's been 26 years since Houston beat A&M, 38 years since they beat A&M by double digits.
