The Academic Fraud is the most damaging, but all those staffers re gone. You now shouldering a heavy load of over a dozen Boosters, a half dozen coaches, and over three dozen student athletes mixed in with damn near two dozen Level 1 infractions. The Ole Miss Administration lied to the media to save a recruiting class, they pushed Nutt out front and he's pissed. Just like they used Barney Farrah as a scapegoat for all of the other allegations, now Barneys pissed too.
OM screwed up the handling of this whole shitshow, now they are in too deep to climb out of the hole and the sanctions haven't even been dished out.

From an SI article.
"Ole Miss is also aware that Nutt would be hard-pressed to prove the details and circumstances of any off-the-record conversations between Ole Miss officials and journalists. Those journalists would never voluntarily agree to testify—a credible journalist never gives up their confidential sources.
Likewise, those journalists would likely refuse to comply with a subpoena that would require them to testify. Those reporters could invoke the so-called “reporter’s privilege,” which though not expressly recognized under federal law is often acknowledged by federal judges as consistent with both the First Amendment and the need for reporters to gather news using confidential sources. Federal courts under the appellate authority of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, which governs federal courts in Mississippi, recognize a reporter’s privilege in civil lawsuits involving confidential sources. This legal dynamic advantages Ole Miss.

I guess we'll see. I can't speak for any of these reporters. But they got burned. If I were Ole Miss, I would not count on the ethics of someone I shat on.

Right. That's why it's a BS lawsuit.
People need to understand: Clearing Nutt's name isn't the motive. The timing of it proves that it isn't about Nutt. It's all about trying to bring down Freeze/OM

I'm not sure an infractions case could be handled more poorly than what OM has done with this. This will likely serve as a case study of what not to do for any future rule breakers.
It's apparent that they didn't reach out to us at all. Do these people understand benchmarking?

It's not like Freeze is that good a coach -- even when cheating as admitted to by ole miss -- and that ole miss is "up", ya'll got boatraced to end the season against both Vandy and State.
Nutt's about getting "free money" from ole miss (like he didn't already with his buyout), because ole miss has to settle this and can't risk going to court.
I imagine Arky fans are laughing their butts off at this development.

Why can't Nutt get a job in coaching anymore?

Well he's not wrong. I'm surprised he actually filed though. Earlier he said he just wanted an apology. Guess OM told him to pound sand.

Nutter has a lot of time on his hands. No one will hire his arse.

True. The whole thing is weird and even though I do agree that OM originally tried to put everything on him, I'm not sure how much he can say it damaged him or his rep given that he was hardly a saint.

Ole Miss said the major part of the NOA was the ACT academic fraud (someone else took the tests?) and the refusal of Nutt's coaches to speak to the NCAA.
And the Tunsil allegations were "settled" with the 7 game suspension -- approved by NCAA, and the Hampton allegations likewise with 2 game suspension.

Doesn't matter. Upon his leaving OM, they had a non disparagement clause. That's where he's already won the suit. It doesn't matter if everything that OM said he done was true even. Disparagement doesn't have to be false statements. They broke that agreement. They will settle with him for millions in order to not go to court and lose. And he has already further exposed Freeze for the hypocritical liar he is. There is no getting around the evidence of Freeze running to the reporters to blame it all on Nutt.
They have soooooo screwed up this whole investigation. Or Freeze has to be more accurate. What a moron.

Well, if OM said it...they have been the beacon of truth through this whole ordeal.
Don't stop believing...

OM should have, as soon as they had word that the NCAA was on their case, gone to Auburn and hired them as advisers for what ever they wanted $$$.
They and their lawyers are the best at this sort of thing.

Based off how OM has handled everything so far that's not a given.

So Mullen, who Nutt absolutely hated for beating him 3 years in a row and rubbed his face in it the whole time, has now convinced Nutt to sue OM?
