UA knew it could be contending for titles with a game manager style QB, and that is all that was asked of McCarron. The same can't be said for Mettsiah. John Elway or bust...

All that will be asked of Mett is that he not be flat-out horrible. That alone will be a huge improvement over 1/9 (and most of the last four years) and should be plenty to win the NC, considering how close we came last year with what we had.

LSU is 9-4 against the Alashama Mulligumpneck Taaaaaahd since 2000.
And it very well could be 10-2. The '08 game went into OT and was handed to Bama on an INT.

The '12 game only happened because of 6 BCS Human Poll Voters and Coaches who voted Oklahoma State 5th or 6th instead of 3rd like the majority of the rest of the voters. Had that small faction voted OSU 3rd or even 4th (like Saban) - Alashama would not have been in the Dome Jan. 9...

LSU's reward for going 13-0 and having to play and beat another top ten opponent in the SECCG, was a soiled and dirty rematch against a 2nd place SEC West team that got to sit home and watch the SECCG and stew about 3 straight losses to the Tigers, while playing that magnificent schedule of 3 ranked teams (LSU played NINE, including FOUR top 3 teams.)

What a mulligump.

The all-time series record between these two teams is in the Tides's favor at 46-24-5 (.647) but the Tide's mark at Tiger stadium is 24-8-3 (.729). It is hard to believe that the Tide has historically won 73% of the games played in that formidable landmark, compared to a more modest home record of 21-16-2 (.564).

Does anyone have an explanation for LSU's lack of a home field advantage against Bama?

LSU has won four of the last six home games against the Tide (record since 2000).

All I know is, LSU is going to beat Alabama at home this year to make it 3 seasons in a row.

I predicted it 3 years ago...certainly didn't see or predict the rematch beat down .

But LSU will beat Alabama this year...

If both teams stay healthy it should be one hell of a game and the atmosphere will be electric. Does LSU play any quality opponents before the Tide to see how Mett will fare in a big game. Bama has Michigan (neutral) and Arky (away) before the Tigers. Neither team can afford to lose their QB. Both have ample depth at other positions, although Bama has little depth on the OL.

It will likely be close as the average score is within a seven point range.

This works both ways. Alabama could have very well beat LSU in 2005, 2007, and 2011. 2010 isn't a stretch either, when you're playing "if, and, but".

There actually is a reason. Bear Bryant would only schedule LSU after the Ole Miss game, who was considered to be LSU's rival at the time. Coming off what would be an emotionally charged away game during the 60s and 70s, LSU usually started a little flat against Bama. Bama only came to Tiger Stadium after LSU played Ole Miss away. Yes Bryant had the influence with the SEC office to make this happen.

I've never actually heard this. The bear was scared.

If that's true, I would call it smart scheduling

im trying to figure out what historical record has to do with this season. the only thing that matters is the last 4 years or really 3 years considering it concerns the players actually playing the game. all time records are pretty meaningless as for as the current season goes

when do they mean something to the current season? The only way they go longer than a few years is maybe considering coaching and a coaches trend at a certain place.

eta: saban does have a nice winning percentage in tiger stadium

Streaks can play minds games on players, when trying to end them. That would include games outside of a five year window.
