SEC Position Rankings: Defensive Line

quote:

1. South Carolina
2. Florida
3. Arkansas
4. LSU
5. Ole Miss
6. Alabama
7. Vanderbilt
8. Kentucky
9. Georgia
10. Mississippi State
11. Missouri
12. Tennessee
13. Auburn
14. Texas A&M: The Aggies lost quality starters like Damontre Moore and Spencer Nealy and the injury bug devastated this unit during the spring. No one will replace Moore's 21 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks, but A&M needs multiple guys to step up. Julien Obioha started 12 games as a true freshman last year, but has to stay healthy this fall, as he's the key to the entire line. He also has to generate a better pass rush. Tackle Kirby Ennis started 11 games last year, but ran into legal trouble before spring practice and was suspended, but is expected to return. Youngsters Alonzo Williams, Tyrone Taylor and Tyrell Taylor will be thrown into the mix this fall, but expect plenty of growing pains. Gavin Stansbury and Alonzo Williams have showed flashes here and there, but will have to much more consistent this fall.

So...expect a lot of shootouts?

ETA: I don't agree with these rankings at all.

Most of us know you're going to crash and burn this year. The other thread is just to keep you guys talking.

Expect your rush defense to be very poor.

If teams are smart, they will play possession against A&M..keep that offense off the field as long as possible.

That and force some turnovers.

If I am scheming against A&M this year I put my fastest LBs in the game, play cover 2 in a deep LB set in zone cover, play contain, and force Johnny to throw the deep ball. Then ground and pound with a play-action pass or two mixed in.

Maybe you mean, the merit of a great dline is reduced when THE OTHER TEAM has a great scrambler. I'm not sure how their QB is going to help their DLine other than by scoring a lot of points to take pressure off.

Teams can't sleep on Tre Williams though..dude is the perfect RB for y'all's system.

A&M had a defense good enough to be able to out score opponents last year. That won't be the case this year.

Losses to bama, lsu, and ole miss wouldn't surprise me at all

Then again, with bama coming to town early they could just break aggie's will with a harsh reality check and the confidence may never return causing losses that shouldn't happen

Losses to bama, lsu, and ole miss wouldn't surprise most of us anyway...

...except that we will beat lsu by 3 touchdowns in BR at night.

Do you play on varsity or all-American?

Seriously, any Aggie with any sort of football knowledge would be concerned about Vandy, Ole Miss, Bama, and LSU without question. Still, Arkansas and Auburn will not likely lay down. Neither will MSU and injury-bugged Mizzou.

SEC Position Rankings: Defensive Line

1. South Carolina
2. Florida
3. Arkansas
4. LSU

This is why LSU will win at least 10 games again this year. LSU lost 3 starters on the DLine and they are still ranked the #4 unit in the SEC. The LBs and DBs will be better this year than last year and the DLine is full of young talent that got lots of playing time last year.

The DLine is LSU's weakest defensive unit going into Fall camp regarding experience and was the one most hit by the early defections. Still, it is ranked #4. Think on that for a minute.

Add that to 9 starters returning on offense, a 5th year senior QB who is in his second year of starting, a couple of big, fast WRs coming in, and Cam Cameron as the OC and I really do not think that LSU is going to fall off the map like everyone here is hoping/predicting.
