I'm so tired of reading most the bullshite posted by both fanbases about how bad the city is etc that I'm going to try and help some of you who are visiting out.

1. The entire city is not under siege by a group of villains. Certain areas are bad, but likely arent areas you have any reason to be in anyway.

2. You should be careful in the French Quarter regardless. The entrance to Bourbon on Canal can be pretty sketchy, and so are some of the side streets. If you're on Bourbon I would avoid bars like Chris Owens. This place is notorious for a rough crowd and illegal activities. Most locals do not hang out on Bourbon.

3. The Warehouse District is an awesome scene. Its young, hip and filled with good restaurants and bars. It is also within walking distance of pretty much everything including the Superdome and the French Quarter, since I'm sure most of you will want to go down there.

4. Uptown is another gorgeous area and the streetcar runs right along St. Charles Avenue which is very safe. You can hit magazine, prytania, or ride down to the riverbend to hit a place like Cooter Browns or Oak and Maple Street. You college students will especially enjoy the bars on Maple, and The world famous Boot is also pretty close. The real late night spots are F and M's, Grits and Snake n Jakes. I would recommend a cab to and from those bars. And bring protection, but not the weapon type

I can add stuff to this if anyone wishes, but I have two exams Im studying for. I just wanted to help some of you out with some general areas real quick.

NOLA is about the same if not a little bit less dangerous than Birmingham, AL. Been to both and that's JMO.

My recommendation is to go to Bourbon St during the day hours. Much nicer and cheaper to drink.

So, if you're over 30, like 80% of the people actually attending the game, where is the entertainment?

Well I assumed most Bama fans wouldn't be traveling down Louisiana Ave and in the Magnolia Projects.

I actually think that about half of st charles is pretty crummy. The parade route part gets so beat up and theres a good bit of blight around there. The university area is amazing though

The corner of Louisiana is about the only area off the top of my head I don't think is real nice. Even the area as you come from underneath the interstate has some nice qualities. I love the university area.

ETA: I didnt say I still go to the boot. But the Bama students coming will likely love it
