A lot of schools have variations of this, and HSU has been using that for as long as I can remember.

A lot of universities have logos similar to that format. It's not the only way they format their logos, but there's nothing uncommon nor wrong with moving the name of the university to the side of their official university icon:

Doesn't look like a stolen logo to me. Plenty of universities have that style logo.

An oval with a colonnaded building inside. Not really distinct enough to claim ownership. Besides, the OM one is a Parthenon-style arcade facade, while the Henderson State one is more of a naturalistic open-floor one. It's basically a marble gazebo.

Wanna see some stolen logos? I'll show you some thieves and some sorry, cow molesting, pig farming miscreants.
Alabama's logo:
It's Big Daddy Al just hanging out with some champagne or some ice-cream, having a good time.
And here come the nasty hicks from down Opelika way to steal what he has.
They have no honor or morals; it's just a shame.
Then, poor old Alabama creates another logo:
and the sorry bumpkins again steal it.
It's like they want to be us or something, very clingy types. Nowadays, they are temporarily content with conducting year long fact finding missions to determine if they can claim as many NC's as Bama.
Will they ever just accept their place? It is so depressing living among them.
