So you actually think only two polls.....in the entire history of college football..........have named Auburn NC's? You are a certain kind of special.

Frick Auburn but it is not even comparable.

Auburn has won one NC, played for another and won at least 2 SEC championships in that span. Big cero in all those categories for the Pigs. Enormous difference.

Auburn has won a lot more NC's than we "claim". We "claim" two. We only "claim" NC's from major polls. We have been awarded NC's from lesser polls, but we do not "claim" them.

Everyone has a lot more, but particularly Alabama schools. Your wikipedia page claims 5, but you won't find our unclaimed national titles on our wikipedia page. The NCAA recognizes 2 for Auburn and 1 for Arkansas, and that's all either school should claim. Retroactive titles don't count and shouldn't even be mentioned in serious discussions.

It's wikipedia. You can put anything on wikipedia.

The NCAA recognizes 2 for Auburn

not according to Saturday Down South

The NCAA record book lists Auburn as a national champion in 1913, 1957, 1983, 1993 and 2010.

Well, here's a link to NCAA recognized national titles and it only shows Auburn twice, '57 and '10.

LINK

And as far as I know, the NCAA doesn't recognize any retroactive titles and Auburn's wikipedia page claims 3 of them. I have no idea where the other 3 come from, but they're not recognized by the NCAA.

The problem with this 2 title to 1 title comparison as an example of being similar is it leaves out a lot of factors. Using the unilateral thinking that this OP is using that would mean if Arkansas suddenly won 9 more titles Auburn would also win 19 more. If Auburn had 20 titles and Arkansas had 10 would it look similar?

Arkansas is not on the same level as Auburn despite being a "State Named" school, and I would assume this is very frustrating to the arkie fans. As has been hinted at in this thread it has been 50 years since arkie was a part of national title discussion late in the season. Auburn has won a title in that time frame and been in the discussion another five times. In the time arkie has been in the SEC they have zero titles and Auburn has 3. The list could go on…

That said arkie gets my respect, they are like an annoying little brother that seems to bring their A game when they play you. If you get caught worrying about the big games down the road they can cut you from time to time. Maybe the best part of having Gus as the head coach is he seems to give a bit of extra attention to arkie each year where Tubb's classically over looked teams that weren't ranked or ranked below Auburn.

Last time I checked the NCAA doesn't recognize National Titles in football. Unless they decided to recognize the play playoff winner.

They were actually firmly in the discussion in 2006 prior to being dismantled by LSU, Florida, and Wisconsin.

He was talking about the undefeated teams in 1992, 2004, and 2010.

Look at post above this post. That is 2 games from a national title. That's not close.
